Triodos, an excellent bank and ethical to boot

Triodos provides us with everything we need from a current account, with the important bonus that it is demonstrably an ethical institution, quite the opposite of so many high street banks, e.g. Barclays. Reviewed on: 20th March 2026

Excellent ethical bank

I recently opened a current account with Triodos and so far have found the experience excellent in every way - staff a pleasure to deal with on the phone, app easy to use, and it feels good to deal with a bank that only finances organisations that benefit society and the environment. My Triodos experience has always been positive.

I banked with a Big Four bank for over 50 years. I'd always been happy with the level of service I received, but I'd become aware of some of it's highly unethical international business dealings, so I decided to take the plunge and switch to an ethical bank. I chose to switch to Triodos almost five years ago & have never regretted that decision. I was worried that the Triodos Online Banking & phone app might feel a bit clunky compared to my previous bank but was prepared to live with that for peace of mind. Knowledgeable, reassuring, professional and ethical.

One of the aspects of digital banking with Triodos that I've appreciated most, is the improvements they have introduced over the past few years. Navigating between the various options is clearer and the new face-lift to the front end is very smart. The security of the app is first rate, as you would expect, and when I've needed individual help with matters of security, the people I've spoken to have been knowledgeable, reassuring, empathetic and professional. Triodos is a much more approachable bank than any of the high street banks I've had dealings with, and, in my opinion, its ethical credentials are a clear symbol of the trust I can take in the services they provide.
