Review of the Virgin Money, M Plus Account:

Pays more interest than my other bank account.

Pays more interest than my other bank account. App on phone is very easy to use. Lots of support and added feature. Reviewed on: 26th February 2025

Great every day bank account with tech limitations

Great every day bank account with no fees and adequate credit interest rates, but downtime on the app and online banking is too frequent to give it a 10. App often doesn't work if on Vodafone but my other bank accounts do at the same location on the same network! Reviewed on: 14th June 2025

The Cash ISA attached to the Current account pays good interest and it is so easy to transfer funds back & forth between accounts Reviewed on: 12th June 2025

Cydesdale Bank/VM customer for over 50 years

4
I have been a Clydesdale Bank (now Vrgin Money) customer for 50+ years. My wife and I were both staff at one time and we held a ClyBk mortgage for about 30 or those years until fully paid off. We are in a strong financial position and therefore a "private client". I've seen personalised service degrade since the VM "merger" and we can no longer have f2f meetings with private client manager (who is Glasgow based) unless we are buying a bank product. Also we are on our 3rd manager in 5 years (previous very good but made redundant) and our nearest branch (VM having closed Guildford & Reading) is 30 - 50 miles away or more. CLub M account is good for insurance coverage and worth the money. Also competitive rates on Cash ISa and 1 year e-bond accounts, al of which my wife and I hold. Hoping the Nationwide acquisition will improve things, although the Scottish element will have disappeared (as it did with Virgin Money rebrand). Reviewed on: 27th February 2025

Uncertain future

3
I'm concerned that the merger with Nationwide will reduce competition and choice in the retail banking sector. Interest rates on the current account and savings account are low. The Virgin branding will I believe disappear, without reference to customers. I may well look for a different provider Reviewed on: 26th February 2025

**Review for Virgin account Not the first time

**Review for Virgin M+ Account Customer Service Experience** Ah, Virgin, where holding music becomes your new favourite playlist, and your account seems as exciting to them as a forgotten sock under the bed. My recent escapade with Virgin’s M+ account customer service felt like starring in my own tragicomedy – minus the comedy. Let’s start with the wait time. By the time someone answered, I felt like I’d grown a beard, learned to play the ukulele, and made peace with my own mortality. Seriously, if patience is a virtue, Virgin should hand out sainthood certificates to anyone who survives their phone queue. When I finally got through, the chaos began. Imagine a circus, but instead of clowns juggling balls, they’re juggling my account details – and dropping them. Confusion doesn’t even cover it. One department sent me to another, and by the end, I wasn’t sure if I was dealing with customer service or an elaborate game of "pass the parcel." What really took the cake (or maybe just took my will to live) was their sheer lack of interest in my account. I mean, I get it, it’s not the Crown Jewels, but could someone at least pretend to care? Instead, I got all the enthusiasm of a teenager asked to do chores. And the empathy? Non-existent. I could have been telling them my house was on fire, and they’d probably have replied with, "Let me transfer you to the fire department… please hold." In short, dealing with Virgin’s M+ account service was like trying to have a deep conversation with a brick wall – slow, frustrating, and utterly pointless. Virgin, if you’re reading this, maybe try pretending your customers matter? Or at least give us frequent flyer miles for all the time we spend on hold. I finally found somewhere to post this this hash happened several times **Rating: 1/5 stars (and that’s generous)** Reviewed on: 5th December 2024

I’m a contractor and came over from Mettle.

I’m a contractor and came over from Mettle. This account is far too basic for running my business. I’ve gone back to Mettle as with them I can categorise my transactions and ad photos of receipts which I can do none of with this Virgin business account. If you’re using it as a personal account to save then fair enough but I was led to believe this was a creditable alternative option for my business banking. Mettle is streets ahead in this regard.
