Zurich Insurance do not pay out on Insurance policies

I took out Travel Insurance with Zurich Insurance and a few months later booked a holiday, unfortunately shortly before going on holiday I was diagnosed with a serious illness and was forced to cancel my holiday. Zurich Insurance refused to pay out even though I was clearly covered. They had initially agreed to but on calculating the cost changed their minds. I know a lot of people have had similar problems with Zurich. Reviewed on: 18th March 2026

Gives cover without any checks

I have contacted this company over 12 months ago and advised that their 3rd party obtained insurance without any legal authority or documentation and still waiting on written response that action and refund of premiums etc. Reviewed on: 4th October 2025

Zurich & Onepath are the same company.

Zurich & Onepath are the same company. They can't be trusted and do everything to get out of paying. If it's for income protection. They sent you to their Dr that says a crippled person is ok to go back to work & cuts off your income protection. They should be closed down. They also control your Dr and get them to change their review of your injuries so they can cut your payments off. Reviewed on: 11th September 2024

Awful service

Bad enough that my upstairs neighbour had a slow leak which seeped down behind my bathroom tiles, got under the bath and rotted the floor, but Zurich's unhelpful, intransigent and downright hostile attitude made everyting worse. Reviewed on: 25th August 2024

BEWARE DO NOT USE FOR HOUSE INSURANCE

Had a UK rented property insured with this company and the tennant caused 11ks worth of criminal damage before his final legal eviction by court bailiffs, Zurich engaged a loss adjuster and look into the policy line by line and wriggled out of the claim even though I personally done everything correctly...... Trust me just insure yourselves elsewhere this company are basically scammers. They basically said I haven't been insured from day 1 and then they would not even return my premium which I paid in full via a broker. Absolute robbery....... I shall let FOS decide whether I have been treated fairly and write this post on every platform I can to advise and help others not be in the position I am. Zurich dont use, rude and obnoxious,

kitchen ceiling fell down,left dangerous,zurich have sent it for investigation even thought their bulider came round and agreed with us,they are saying i didnt tell them about a claim for accidental damage from 2018 for £125 horrid customer service, treated like a piece of dirt on their shoes Reviewed on: 28th May 2024

Suddenly stopped home insurance

After being a loyal customer for 11 years I was told to find another insurer as they have stopped doing home insurance which was out of the blue Reviewed on: 22nd August 2023

I will never use Zurich again !!!!!!

Never needed to claim insurance before, but unfortunately someone broke into our garage twice – in October our big garden gate and garage door was destroyed, and 2 e-bikes were stolen. On the second burglary (November) - the main garage door and the fence were destroyed, 1 motorbike was stolen. Because there were 2 burglaries the claims were handed over to Zurich investigation department. And the “fun” began: They didn’t like our first quote as the person was not vat registered. After that we supplied different quotes from companies, that we found on Checkatrade. We were questioned why one supplier quoted for garage gate and the other for the main door to the garage – like we were responsible for the wording of the quotes. They sent the person to our house, who supposed to make photos of damages, but she was doing a background check up on us. Every detail on our insurance was checked – that we definitely have correct details on our policy insurance. A lot of questions were asked: do we have any convictions, do we run business from home, does anyone else live with us etc. Two months later claims were still opened and our insurance run out. We were not offered a renewal with Zurich, so it was very costly for us to find proper insurance while having opened claims. From that moment there was almost no communication from them. Things only moved forward when I called the customer service and complain, as Mr. Investigator didn’t pick up his phone, didn’t return voicemails and didn’t acknowledge emails. In the middle of April, they sent a subcontractor to check the damages and to do a quote. Mr Zurich investigator was reviewing the quote for 2 months – after chasing it up we were told that the case is now with claim department. I called the claim department today (21.06.23) and was told the subcontractor is sorting out the claim. My questions are: who were we insured with - Zurich or your subcontractor? How long does it take to sort out the insurance claim? I feel really sorry for people who need to claim insurance for major accidenst and losses with Zurich if they go through the same process as we experienced. It is very heart breaking if someone steals your belongings for which you work hard to buy them. But with Zurich insurance claim process it is even worse. I will never use Zurich again !!!!!!
