Paid for annual service plan and had to pay extra to bring service forward to maintain annual service. Had the service and the radiator they used to drain the system then started to leak. They then forced me to pay an extra £95 quid to get someone to come and fix it. Reviewed on: 15th February 2025

Proceed with caution

I don't normally leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my recent appalling experience with 24/7 home rescue. After a routine boiler service, they flagged my boiler as "at risk," insisting that I needed an immediate replacement of the heat exchanger due to a broken part. This claim was particularly suspicious, considering they had been servicing my boiler for the past three years without any prior issues. They quoted a staggering £900 for the replacement, despite admitting that the fault would have occurred during their own service. Outraged, I contested their assessment, demanding further investigation. Eventually, after many telephone calls, they begrudgingly sent out the boiler manufacturer for a second opinion, only to discover that the supposedly defective part was perfectly fine. This ordeal exposed not only their incompetence but also their blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. I shudder to think about the vulnerable individuals, like the elderly or those unable to advocate for themselves. They would have needlessly forked out a substantial sum for a repair that wasn't even necessary. The lack of accountability and empathy exhibited by 24/7 boiler service is utterly unacceptable. I implore anyone considering their services to proceed with extreme caution. Trusting them with your boiler maintenance could lead to unnecessary expenses and undue stress. Avoid them at all costs, and spare yourself the headache of dealing with their shocking customer service. Reviewed on: 22nd February 2024

AVOID THIS COMPANY!

AVOID THIS COMPANY!! Had the boiler cover with my24/7 for 4 years and always booked the annual service which always amazed me that they could fully service in the time they was here! Booked for this year's service and engineer arrived not having a clue how to use the tado system which is one of the popular WiFi heating controllers so didn't have much confidence right from the off. Within 5 minutes of him there the boiler had mysteriously packed up and wasn't working at all. Even tho the boiler had been working perfectly fine all year and was working as he managed to get a emissions reading from it. He then said he couldn't do no more and left! Leaving me with no heating with a family with children isn't very good at all. Couple of days after I get a call saying that they will send out a service engineer only after I've paid £75! I begrudgingly paid up and waited a day for him to turn up. He turned up not happy that he had to work on Sunday and couldn't wait to get to the pub! Told me boiler was beyond economical repair and left again with no heating in the coldest spell we've had this year!! To say my house and kids was freezing is a understatement! Finally 9 days after it stopped working on a so called service and me having to chase them all the time they finally say they can't do anything and cancel my contract with them!! Now stuck with a dead boiler that I've now got to sort out. Over the year they have bombarded me with phone calls trying to get me to upgrade my ageing boiler with the same response that if its working fine im leaving alone. This company will only want to take all your money and help out the least they can !!! I would highly recommend using other company's for your heating system as these are a complete waste of money Reviewed on: 16th February 2024

They don't pay there engineers, and don't return things they promised to return the contract is useless, they want to sell you a new rubbish ideal and make you pay for it over 10 years. Avoid like the plague. Reviewed on: 13th January 2024

Awful. Not sure how the regulator allows them to operate

This is one of the cheapest providers but HANDS DOWN the worst. They never come to appointments just rearrange and rearrange. So once you have taken a day off work to be at home they cancel the night before. Over and over again. Employees in back office are based in India and have terrible customer service. Cant even lodge a complaint. They refuse to take one. Unbelievable! Avoid this company like the plague. Follow up: 7 December 2023 They finally sent an amateur "engineer". His fiddling ended up breaking the central heating system completely. They promised to send someone to rectify it within 24 hours. Noone bothered to turn up. My 83 year old mother is freezing to death. What and awful company. Having to seek out a local boiler engineer to rectify what they broke. Complaints department told me to sod off. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Date of experience: November 28, 2023 Reviewed on: 7th December 2023

247 could not fix my boiler.

They told me that they could not get the part to repair my boiler so they triad selling me a new boiler for £2600. I found the part on-line so have ordered it and will get it fitted when it arrives. Very poor service. Reviewed on: 29th November 2023

Disgusting

Diabolical, absolutely lost for words, phoned for help on 12th October, told by their poor customer service that the earliest date they could get to me was 16th December ……. “8 weeks”… avoid and get the cover elsewhere if not already covered by your home insurance. Reviewed on: 15th November 2023

Won't fix a leak unless you can photograph .where leak is coming from

Abslutely diabolical service. I have a leak thats dripping from the ceiling, they want photos of where the leaks coming from, i sent photos and said they cant see the leak, so basically.can't send someone down to fix it, might as well fix it myself. Unless you are handy and are willing to rip up.floorboards etc to find the leak, steer clear. Thats my direct debit cancelled. Save your money use the H one much better service and will tell you what I he problem is rather than the other way round. Reviewed on: 27th June 2023

No cover at all

Where do I start? To keep things simple: 1- I thought I had managed to get cheap boiler cover. It turned out they don't cover you if they discover any faults during the regular maintenance check. Boiler capped off without a proper service being done. I had to pay separately for an independent gas engineer who fixed my boiler and carried out a proper service. 2- I was offered an inhibitor for the inconvenience when the engineer failed to show up to a previous appointment. I phoned up afterwards to chase and I was advised that that a manager would phone me back. Several weeks later no manager called. 3- I logged a complaint and was offered a two months reduction on my bill in addition to receiving the inhibitor. I agreed to this. However, after agreeing that it did not make sense for me to have to renew my contract and wait for another annual service, the company agreed to send an engineer to insert the promised inhibitor but then retracted the offer of two months credit. 4- I was outraged that they would retract a previous agreement (retracting all of £10 from the compensation agreed which I found insulting!!!) and asked for details of how I could complain to the Ombudsman. They responded that this part of the cover is not covered by the Ombudsman so I could either like it or lump it effectively. This is despite the fact that their sales team assured me before I purchased cover that I would be covered by the ombudsman. I've realised that I am dealing with cowboys! Reviewed on: 16th June 2023

Awful experience, they chase your money!

This is the worst company I've had the misfortune to deal with!! When I joined they promised me the earth. Before my first payment was made (1st December) I had a date for my boiler service (15th December) I was then pestered on the phone everyday for about 10 days asking questions about my boiler, radiators and if I had a retardant in the system, I just bought the house, how would I know whats in the system? After several attempts at trying to sell me additional services (and failed!) They rang me to cancel my boiler service until FEBRUARY! I said this was unacceptable and they agreed to send a subcontractor, but they never gave a date! 2 weeks later they rang me and 5 minutes to 3 in the afternoon and asked if they could service my boiler at 3 o clock, I was 30 miles away doing my shopping, 5 minutes notice!! They have since informed me they are not carrying out any services before March! AGAIN I said this is not acceptable, they were told my boiler is probably over 12 years old and I joined so it would be serviced and I would have breakdown cover (at a price) I am now waiting for them to give me a firm and fixed date to service my boiler so I know it is running efficiently and safely. My cover is costing me £120 a year, and I have to pay for breakdowns and emergencies. For £120 I could have had a local plumber service my boiler and I would of had £60 towards any callout or emergency. 24/7 have to date been appalling, they never give firm and fixed dates or times, their customer care consultants are trained to just say sorry and move on! I will not be using this company again and I could not with all honesty recommend them to anybody. "Should have gone to British Gas" Awful Reviewed on: 28th December 2022

Cheap means cheap do not expect alot

My bad and time consuming experience: I asked for annual service at the end of the summer. The engineer came and found a fault in the pump and left without doing anything. The heating system was not used over the summer time and was not working after I tried it following the service, but they refused to repair/replace the pump, saying it is a remedial work. I complained, but despite appreciating my frustration, they said they do not repair pumps and the cant help me. The heater was not working when tried so it is not an advisory job but tgey still wouldn't repair and they believe it is my job to do independently Fir unknown reason, they offered me 25 pounds :) :) :) which I, of course, refused and cancelled the policy on the same day. Fortunately, my home insurance covers the heating, and they have already sorted this issue out despite telling them that the service engineer found the pump not working. They simply said you heater is not working and you are covered. Customer service is another long story with one of them telling me 'do not complain as there is no benefit of complaining' When I asked him to talk to someone other than him, he said: 'I am the manager and the only one here and unfortunately I can help you'. The complaint team said they will deal with that problem. They, simply, collect little money to attract customers, however, you'll not know the facts until you need them.
