Appalling service

I had taken out insurance with RAC Online - believing that RAC was a reputable company - how wrong was I. I had the policy for around 5 months when I had to change my vehicle, only to be told that I couldn't do that. I only had two options, get a new quote for another years insurance or cancel - due to the quote being ridiculously expensive i.e. 3 times what I was quoted from price comparison website - I had no option but to cancel - fine, it is what it is. The kicker though is that I entered the policy with 15 years NCD but received only 9 years back due to the fact that their system can only handle single digits (seriously in this day and age), I've been onto customer service, virtual assistants and emailing only to be told they won't honour my NCD because I've cancelled my policy - when else would you need proof of no claims. Absolutely appalling company and in all my years of getting car insurance I had never dealt with such shocking service. Do yourself a favour and avoid this company at all costs. Using compare sites I found RAC competitive with added features which was included within the premium whereas other sites added these to the standard cost making them uncompetitive. Highly disapointed with RAC you go with these compan...

Highly disapointed with RAC you go with these companies because the brand, so I exported my car had insurance with RAC for 2 years in the the next year 2 months in needed to cancel due to export. Paid 2 months recieved 6 weeks. 45 per month. 540 per year, they want 237 pounds to cancel. Recieved 6 weeks paid 90 pounds 237 pounds to release, total 327 pounds for 6 weeks to be fair lets make it two months. Basically making my insurance 1962 per year. This is extortion at its finest I have to pay it because I cant afford the credit issues. There a disgusting company at best my advice is stay away, after we asked them why and for a breakdown Victoria left the chat when we asked to speak to a manager. Left us in the lurch with no help what so ever. Companies are judged on these times for me when you need help they just go for the jugular its a nasty tactics and one I hope I can help others avoid. Pathetic customer service

Chose RAC due to great reviews, trustworthy, great response times. First time using them to report a car that wouldn't start. Unable to speak to an actual person, just sent a link to follow, paying an excess fee of £45 even before continuing with the report. This was at 14:30, the first ETA was between 15:30 and 16:30. This then changed to a time slot between 17:00 and 19:00. Meaning the wait could be up to 4.5 hours! Put a Plan B into place whereby my wife was coming to me with jump leads after work. She got to me and everything was sorted. RAC then rang to say they were on the way but I explained the situation, he apologised for the very long wait time and said to call customer services to arrange a refund of the £45. This is now proving impossible as I cannot get through to anyone that can help on the phone. Transferred multiple times only for the automated voice to say the line was closed. It's an automated hell-hole of a service, it really is. None of the options relate at all and if I do get through to someone to explain the situation they say they can't help and I need such and such department but then the route to them stops. It's so frustrating and pathetic. After this is sorted I'll be cancelling my membership and going elsewhere. Reviewed on: 28th May 2025

RAC will rip you off. Don’t trust, (TrustPilot)

Sucks you in for a good price!. Once renewal is up, they charge you triple!! Also TrustPilot will remove your negative reviews against RAC! Reviewed on: 9th January 2025
