Admiral charge higher excess fees than other leading insurers and especially higher if you use a price comparison site. When we did have to make a claim, they have made it almost impossible to do so and make you call back several times and have lost information previously given. Terrible. Do not waste your time or hard earned money.

Our car was stolen, after a long interrogation and lots of documents they offered a compensation of 33% below prices we found online for similar cars, a much smaller replacement car or just £250 otherwise. When the car was found by police just before payout they took back the £250 we thought we were using for taxis while waiting on car payout and also penalised quite a lot on our no claims bonus and it didn't make a difference whether they paid out for the whole car or just a fraction of that for repairs. Complete rip off.

We had Admiral buildings and contents insurance for a year without making any claim. When considering renewal, we were told that the cost would increase by about 30% and that the compulsory excess for any damage caused by escape of water or flood had been increased from £350 to £500 (in addition to voluntary excess.) Following discussion, the proposed increase in cost could be reduced to about 15%. However, we were not willing to accept the prospect of paying £500 compulsory excess in case we should ever have water damage, so have arranged insurance with another company.

I will never insure with Admiral again. I was involved in an accident yesterday and was made to wait 2 hours before my car was collected by a rescue service and then advised I would have to make my own way home. How is this acceptable when you've just been in an accident and your mental and emotional state is at it's lowest???
My car was taken in at 10am 26th February, I had to return home and make work aware that I would not be able to make it into the office because I had no vehicle. I called Admiral around 12/1pm, having heard nothing further since 10am, when I was likely to get my courtesy car so I could update the office when I would be back in. I was told that this would depend on when the Garage was able to look at the car and send in their findings regarding whether the damage was repairable or not. When I asked how long they estimated this to take I was told could be today, could be tomorrow "we don't know". At this point I had to tell work that I would not be in the following day either - each day I'm not in the office meanwhile I'm not getting paid. Certainly not very helpful
I called the garage (RS Motors) my car was at on the 27th February early morning and was informed that the car was still being looked at and that even if they provided an estimate to Admiral that afternoon, Admiral would still have to sign off on the courtesy car, I was looking at Friday 1st March to get a courtesy car if approved!
At this point I was really starting to get annoyed, what am I paying so much money for if when I need my insurance to work for me it doesn't?! I then called Admiral in the hopes they could speed up the process because potentially I was looking at 4 days off work - hence not making any money that week and I couldn't afford to do that. I was met with little sympathy and when asked of the Claims Assistant and Complaint department "what benefit is my Admiral insurance providing me with right now?" I was met with silence. Says it all really.
I have now (still 27th February) called RS Motors for an update on my car and they've told me they have only just received the vehicle and if they can they will look at it today?! Not sure what kind of an operation Admiral are running but it sure will kick and punch you whilst you're down. Who is going to cover my loss of earnings for this week whilst the people at the top take my money needlessly. Forget feeding myself and my family I need to feed Admiral first.
Save your money and take it elsewhere.

If i could give a zero i would. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING... spoke to someone saying my car was broken down and at the garage so they couldnt work on my littlebox as i didnt have the car. They have now increased my insurance...an excess of just over £200... i dont know where they expect me to get this money from as i bought a car from a dealer that was faulty...been at garage for 4mnths and i told them this. Now they are saying because i spoke to the engineers i should have spoken to them too. But they are YOUR engineers!!! You asked them to call me.

Soo upsetting as i have spent ao much already and paid insurance for 4mnths whilst car was at garage. What you are doing and have done is so wrong on so many levels Admiral..so wrong.

My car was run into by a third party; the damage was such that Admiral declared it a write-off. Despite policy wording around paying out “market value” and “this is so you can replace the car with one of similar age, condition, mileage and specification”, they failed to do this, and short-changed me by around £700. Have cancelled all remaining policies, referred my case to the Ombudsman, and will never again use Admiral.

Called for breakdown help/pick up as I damaged my front wheel, told to wait for max. 1 hour, 2 hours later still no truck, called truck company and admiral, said it’s on the way but the truck never showed up. Managed to hitch hike back to town and 1 hour after arriving home (4hiurs after breakdown) admiral call saying truck is not coming as it’s late and they couldn’t find me (I sent screenshots of maps and directions to both admiral and the truck company).

Just received email saying they won’t refund me for callout of breakdown truck.

Do not use admiral
