Appalling claims settlement process

Ageas claims are absolutely appalling. Fast enough to take your money for a policy but a very different story when they are supposed to pay it out! I had my prize Porsche stolen last November, and trying to get some professionalism and efficiency from there claims department is impossible. The appointed loss adjuster took over 2 months to make an appointment to see me, then didn’t bother to reply to my emails asking him what he wanted in the way of documentation. The claim handler then told me not to deal with him any more or reply to his emails as he was ‘off the case’. He then turns up at my home unannounced 3 weeks later saying he is ‘back on the case’ and apologised for all the mess up! Ageas left it over 3 months before requesting a police report (that takes another 3 weeks). When I asked why everything is not requested at the start of the claim, I’m told ‘we can take as long as we like’! What sort of professional response is that! The claim is now into its 5th month and although I emailed the claim handler a week ago asking for an update, I still have no reply. They can’t even respond to an email in 7 days! I also asked for contact details for the head of the total loss department, and they wouldn’t give them to me, disgusting service. I have made complaint to the FOS and the FSA (financial governing bodies) as well as Ageas themselves. Next step will be the press and the courts! Reviewed on: 10th April 2019

Do not use Ageas as you will be disappointment and frustration regarding the lack of a renewal reminder ,I expect insurance companies to prioritize the safety and protection of their customers by ensuring they are properly informed about policy renewals. The failure to send a renewal reminder demonstrates a serious lack of communication and responsibility on Ageas part. I did not receive any notification or reminder regarding the renewal of my policy, which resulted in me unknowingly driving without insurance. Reviewed on: 8th September 2024
