cheaper than others but that's about it so far

People over the phone dont seem to understand veterinary conditions and how things are not interlinked, and despite a vet also confirming this - anything to put exclusions on policy, so far very dissapointed Reviewed on: 6th July 2019

Stress free insurance

My dog was very ill , we had only been with Animal Friends for 9 months but they couldn't have been more helpful. They paid my vet the full limit of my insurance - £3000 within 2 days of being asked. It meant so much that I didn't have to worry about the cost of his treatment. Best insurers I've ever been with and the only ones I will use from now on. Reviewed on: 2nd July 2019

Quick to exclude

Good price but they are very quick to exclude certain conditions for the slightest thing. One of my cats had a urine infection - a one off - so they excluded all urine-related problems - and what a faff to get a review - you have to formally request it, get a vet's history and generally jump through a whole load of hoops. I do sometimes query whether honesty is always the best policy in these circumstances Reviewed on: 10th February 2019

I took out pet insurance for my dog with animal friends when he was around 2 years old. I didn't make any claims for a for the first 2 years but then he needed some treatment for diarrhoea. The claim was quick and easy to make and the pay out was done speedily straight to my vets. Then several years later he fell ill again and I had not realised that now that he was over 8 i had to pay 35% of any claim. Again the pay was quick but it did put me off the company and my advice would be to read the small print carefully Reviewed on: 12th January 2019
