About this product

Aviva health insurance helps pay for private medical care for short-term injuries or illnesses.

You'll have access to a range of private hospitals and facilities that include Circle, Nuffield, Spire and NHS private units. Aviva won't increase premiums at first renewal if you haven't made a claim that's reduced your no claim discount level.

Aviva health insurance reviews help you find out what it’s really like to be a customer. If you’ve used Aviva before, you can also leave a review and share your experience.

Review of the Aviva, Health insurance:

Up against a brick wall

1
Staggeringly difficult to make a claim. If you were not feeling well, you would give up within ten minutes, which I can only imagine is what their `goalkeepers` who answer the phone are trying to achieve. I would not recommend this company to any one. Absolutely dreadful. This is a zero star (you have to give a minimum of one apparently - they are not worth one star) review. The worst health insurance.

1
The worst health insurance. I have this through work and nothing seems to be connected, awful and broken customer support. Chased them for 2 weeks to activate my account, then their Digital GP wasn't linked to the policy, an hour with customer support for him to tell me that this is where his knowledge ends. gives me a wrong number!!! Had to search for the right one and call, for them to tell me it's a 40min wait... It's taking me 3 weeks to book a treatment, emailing, called and overall trying to find info on their scattered website. Can you do worse? I truly don't think so. Reviewed on: 23rd January 2024

Aviva !! Nobody cares just want your money

1
Tried phoning Aviva many many times in June July some times waiting 30+minutes before hanging up the phone time after time being told they are busy at the moment we were 75 years old at the time .I wrote to the ombudsman and they came to the decision I was at fault for not waiting long enough on the phone. I had a broken leg . And a few weeks later stated loosing might sight in one eye I need help and none was given being treated now by NHS. Reviewed on: 11th January 2024

Worse health insurance

1
Useless hopeless and pointless. They don’t cover emergency. They close Early on weekends so pls Don’t have an emergency or a . health problem on the weekend. When you make a claim, pray you get authorisation. Waste of money and time and so far in the few months I have been a member, it would have been cheaper to pay direct and not have insurance Crooks and deceiving. Stay away. Impossible to get through

Impossible to get through via phone, waited for over an hour then got cut off. Reviewed on: 12th December 2023

Impossible to contact, poor service

I can definitely see why this company have such bed reviews. Never get through by phone so email. Constantly assured the payment to the hospital is covered yet I am almost £400 out of pocket as had to pay outstanding invoices myself to avoid further action. Service is provided by my work place but would never recommend to anyone Reviewed on: 12th December 2023

Taking the Michael

1
Phoned on Friday to discuss my claim, waited for over an hour to speak to an advisor then hung up. Phoned the sales number answered within minutes spoke to a call handler, who had a very nice telephone manner but was no help. Phoned this morning at 09:30 and finally got through to a claims handler, was told that they were having trouble accessing my records and save me hanging about they would phone as soon as they accessed them. 8 hours later still no phone back. Can't give no stars, if I could that is what I would give Reviewed on: 11th December 2023

Shocking!

1
I have just had to cancel my AVIVA private health. It is the worst experience ever. When it came to a claim I had to wait up to 2+ hours on the phone, then they would not process the claim, I had to go through NHS (but continued to pay circa £299 a month but yet use the NHS! I appealed then they realised that I was in the right. They apologised and promised a £30 refund which I do not even know when I will receive this. I normally have BUPA or AXA PPP (which are much better). I will never take out an AVIVA policy again! steer clear of them! Reviewed on: 2nd December 2023

Would give zero if that was an option

1
Impossible to get through. Complete joke of a service Reviewed on: 27th November 2023

Terrible Service

1
Impossible to get through to Aviva over the phone to make or follow up a claim. Exhausting and intrusive claims process even when pre existing conditions are covered through a group policy and the icing on the cake - poor coverage. Do Not USE Reviewed on: 4th November 2023

Make a claim impossible

1
I went to see gynaecologist and they gave me medicine that I had adverse affects so need to go back to get different meds. Aviva don’t read documents probably say this is an existing condition and say do not do not do pre existing which it was a new condition. Then they look at the medication and say your menopausal we don’t cover that. I prove I am not and the medication can be used for different things. Then they say you have a prolapse according to the consultant notes and they don’t read clearly because it doesn’t say that. Then they Me the boss who is looking through the paperwork is medical trained. No clearly not and Aviva have been told don’t do things that cost too much money and refuse this claim. Happy to take money but not for you to claim. First time getting private health care but for sure will not be getting Aviva again. But I not sure if all insurance companies are like this. I hope not as I need to try a different company. Reviewed on: 23rd October 2023
