Mixed feelings

With Bank of Scotland reward current account I get a monthly £5 reward which is quite nice, there are lots of offers for cash back too but in years I've never actually made a valid purchase offer, for some depending on spending habits this could be quite useful too though. Several other accounts and little else to keep me there, low interest rates and mediocre customer service. I have had one bad experience fairly recently when I spend more than 2 hours on the phone to solve a relatively simple problem. I did complain about the customer service which to Bank of Scotlands credit was followed up with a polite email and then phone conversation and I was reimbursed a small amount for my inconvenience , however this was overshadowed somewhat by their inability to provide a satisfactory response to why the problem had come about in the first place and why it'd taken so long to resolve. Other than this I've never had a major problem in years and in branch staff have always been more than helpful, but recently I'm thinking it's maybe time for a switch. Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

5 years of fabulousness!

I have been with bank of Scotland for five years now. I have had a secondary bank account with other banks in between. I always trust that bank of Scotland has the best intentions for me and my money. Overall, I feel very secure having bank of Scotland as my main banking provider and won’t be swapping from them anytime soon. Reviewed on: 26th February 2025

This account could appeal to anyone looking for a straightforward bank account that charges no monthly fee but also allows them to earn interest on their balance. The pervasive impact of white mediocrity

The branch in Morningside Edinburgh is grossly inefficient and run by a manager who struts around with an iPad asking people inane things like, ‘how are you with the cash machine, alright?’, but he couldn’t help me to get a diary slot in his colleague’s diary to set up an Executor Account. The cashiers seem fine but don’t try to do anything out of the norm. Can’t do it online, can’t do it in branch so I will take my business to another bank. Reviewed on: 24th May 2024

BOS is my first and last bank!
