Classic Current

I really enjoy banking with the Bank of Scotland and have been with them for a number of years. I recently changed from a fee paying bank account which had benefits I really had no need of to the Classic Vantage account which actually pays me when I am in credit, on a tiered rate. Okay, I don't get tons, but I don't pay in tons, and what I do get is helpful. I have always found them helpful and generous and never had any problems with them and guess what? I am saving myself £17.50 per month on a really good current account. Reviewed on: 4th January 2017

Easy to set up

Easy to switch to them from my previous bank and they allowed me to have an overdraft which my previous bank didn't. Reviewed on: 27th December 2016

We was robbed, but the bank was great!

After money was fraudulently taken from our account by scammers (nearly £900) and articles bought from a TV shopping channel, using a picture of my ex-wifes card that had been taken from an ATM, the bank were very understanding and caring with us, throughout the whole process. We were not made to feel implicated, or involved, indeed we were total innocents in the whole process, and were made to feel as such. The bank were great. We were refunded within 2 days, the whole amount too. Reviewed on: 16th November 2016

Took me on when I was a bad risk.

They asked in depth questions to find out current and future financial plans and were happy to provide an account. Reviewed on: 27th June 2016

Mixed feelings

With Bank of Scotland reward current account I get a monthly £5 reward which is quite nice, there are lots of offers for cash back too but in years I've never actually made a valid purchase offer, for some depending on spending habits this could be quite useful too though. Several other accounts and little else to keep me there, low interest rates and mediocre customer service. I have had one bad experience fairly recently when I spend more than 2 hours on the phone to solve a relatively simple problem. I did complain about the customer service which to Bank of Scotlands credit was followed up with a polite email and then phone conversation and I was reimbursed a small amount for my inconvenience , however this was overshadowed somewhat by their inability to provide a satisfactory response to why the problem had come about in the first place and why it'd taken so long to resolve. Other than this I've never had a major problem in years and in branch staff have always been more than helpful, but recently I'm thinking it's maybe time for a switch. Reviewed on: 28th March 2016
