Brilliant.

I have banked with the bank of Scotland since I was 16 and I have never had a problem! I can not fault them in anyway, I find that using my online banking app makes things more easier and faster for me than having to visit my local branch. Definitely a brilliant place to bank in my opinion. Reviewed on: 20th June 2017

Easy set up, great account, friendly staff

I recently opened a new "Classic Account with Vantage" at the Bank of Scotland. My partner has been with them for over 20 years and told me that they've been great. I did my research and their accounts have quite consistently been in best buy tables I've seen, it also pays interest (unlike my old account at RBS) and they have more branches around - not that I really use them, but it's nice to know they are there. I also liked the everyday offers feature, which said it would give me cashback just shopping as normal if I pay with my Bank of Scotland debit card. You can have these offers "flagged" on your statement too, so that you spot where you could be earning cashback. I did pop in to the branch with a few questions before I opened the account, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a queue at the time, and 2 staff members were helping people skip the queue by showing them how to deposit money in the deposit box/cash machines which I thought was helpful. It meant I was seen much quicker than just joining the line! They also have a linked monthly saver account which looks good, I may open that too (you need a Bank of Scotland current account to have the Monthly Saver account). I did the account opening online, which was very easy to do, and had the decision in minutes. I think the whole process took less than 10 minutes. The card and PIN arrived within 4 days (faster than they said it would). Their mobile banking app is VERY easy to use and looks like it lets you do everything you might need to do. I have just activated my first everyday offer - 5% cashback on shopping in Morrisons. All in all, my experience so far has been very positive, no problems opening the account, and so far, lots of good things about the bank and the account. Reviewed on: 13th June 2017

Not really keeping up with the times

I've been with Bank of Scotland and then HBOS for more than 20 years now. In the time, they've been slow to respond to internet banking, their website is not very intuitive, and their bank and credit card statements are not easy to print out and export. Plus they have refused to divest from certain ethically dubious businesses and individuals. They're not terrible, but I think they could be doing a lot better. Reviewed on: 30th May 2017

Great bank

I have been with this bank for 20 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. Staff on the phone and in branches are friendly, extremely helpful and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Reviewed on: 12th May 2017

Up to 3% on your balance

The Classic Account from Bank of Scotland pays 3% on balances from £3,000 to £5,000. Make sure you add 'Vantage' to your account else you won't get it. You need to pay in at least £1,000 per month, stay in credit, and must have two different direct debits paid from the account each month. If your balance is less than £3,000 the rates are tiered - 1.5% (£1 to £1000) and 2% (£1,000 to £3,000) Reviewed on: 11th March 2017

Classic Current

I really enjoy banking with the Bank of Scotland and have been with them for a number of years. I recently changed from a fee paying bank account which had benefits I really had no need of to the Classic Vantage account which actually pays me when I am in credit, on a tiered rate. Okay, I don't get tons, but I don't pay in tons, and what I do get is helpful. I have always found them helpful and generous and never had any problems with them and guess what? I am saving myself £17.50 per month on a really good current account. Reviewed on: 4th January 2017
