Easy to open an account

I was a UK resident but not citizen recently arrived in the UK. I went to several banks to open an account but found them uninterested and unhelpful, except Barclays. Several years later I am still with them. Reviewed on: 15th February 2016

Never A Problem

Bad Customer Service

I have always enjoyed good customer service until the last two years where they have been rude to me on the phone when I have been obviously upset about having issues with accessing my online or mobile banking. I also do not like the amount of paper that they waste sending me offers for credit cards and bank loans. Barclays tends to offer good products with better rates than some of the other banks on the market but I would rather get a slightly worse interest rate with another bank than put up with their unhelpfulness. Plodding along

Fairly happy with them, but my needs are simple. Interest rate could be better on savings account but that applies to most banks. Online banking and app are easy to use. Reviewed on: 4th January 2020

Not happy

I can not get the same advise when I call or when I go into branch, your advisors semi to have conflicting manuals to work from. I have transferred 50000 on one occasion and now told I can only transfer 15000. I am totally lost! It is my money why are you treating me so badly. Reviewed on: 4th January 2020

Since I was 16, now 32. Wouldn't bank with anyone else

I opened my very first bank account with Barclays when I was 16. Now, double that age, I have never ventured from them having never needed too. My favourite thing is the app. It is so quick and easy to transfer funds between accounts, to send money to my friends and to clearly see my savings. Reviewed on: 3rd January 2020

Old world banking, inefficient and outdated

I have been a Barclays customer for over 15 years, and I have seen their service drop constantly over that time. With the closure of branches, offshoring of call centres, increased charges, inflexible lending, to name just some of their failings, this is a 20th century bank that is being rightly left behind by the new startups that are focused on customer service (such as Starling and Revolut) ahead of making a buck or two.
