BBS were great for our guest house mortgage

Bath Building Society was very flexible and set up a mortgage for our guest house. All the other lenders we approached (Lloyds, Natwest, Halifax etc.) were unable to help because we didn't fall into a standard tickbox category. The rate was always competitive, we had a series of discounted rate deals. Been with them for about 20 years. I highly recommend BBS. Reviewed on: 24th April 2025

Straightforward, easy and helpful

Mortgage Help And Advise

After being with Bath Building Society for nearly 10 years, I was looking to move to a new property and sorted out advise from Bath B/S about keeping my business with them regardless on how competitive some lenders are at this present time ( cheapest isn't always the best ) After talking it throw with Ian Birch from Bath B/S , his great help made and advise made the hole process so easy to deal with and one major plus I must say at any one time I needed to contact him regarding the new mortgage he was always there to help and got back to you promptly . 1 person contact throughout

Our impression was of trusting the initial contact. Tim was immediate with responses, helpful with my many questions, plus “human”. There were many forms and bits of paper to find or fill in lucky I keep paperwork have a scanner etc. We went direct not to mortgage advisor as we knew what sort of mortgage we wanted and not every lender does retirement interest only. Once we were approved all went smoothly. Without that initial trust and confidence in Tim we would have looked elsewhere. Thank you to all the team . Reviewed on: 24th September 2021

Very professional and helpful

We enquired about a buy for uni mortgage. Our personal financial circumstances are not standard so meeting the underwriters requirements took time. Great service from beginning to end

All steps of my recent mortgage application was dealt with both professionally and personally. Student mortgage is a great idea

This mortgage allowed our student daughter to purchase a flat in her own right with us acting as guarantors. The process was straighforward and once everything was agreed and she had found her dream flat – she made an offer and moved in. She has a lodger to help with the payments, and she is secure for the rest of her university course, and beyond! Reviewed on: 24th June 2021

Just totally different, and understand the value of Customer Service

I have my mortgage with Bath Building Society, and the difference in dealing with my large high street bank and them is just miles apart. What a pleasure to receive old fashion amazing service, and actually speak to a real person who genuinely cares. The experience of dealing with the team is fabulous, I am just totally surprised every time I speak with a member of the Team, the level of professionalism is awesome, can't say how much other financial institutions could learn from this Building Society. I'm not easily impressed, but the icing on the cake was when I received a 'Welcome to your new home' hamper full of delights from Bath, just brilliant. Smooth from start to finish.

Our whole experience has been positive from start to finish. We understood clearly at every stage the various options available to us. We were kept fully in the picture throughout the process and despite the disruption of the covid 19 pandemic we were able to complete according to plan. Real personal approach - unique

Our experience was seamless from start to finish. I contacted the Society and was pleasantly surprised to be out straight through to Tim Randall who showed immediately how different the experience was going to be compared to call centres etc. Let me be very clear, in a digital age Tim’s hands on approach made the difference, his communication was quick and he understood us really well, you don’t get that from some of the bigger societies or banks, let’s face it you are just a number with them; but certainly not with Tim and his Team at Bath BS.
