Can't be beaten!

Excellent account, although £5 charge per month, the rate of Interest at 1.5% on a current account is excellent! Customer service I have found to be reliable and efficient! Reviewed on: 3rd February 2017

Rapidly gone down hill

The santander used to cost £2per month to reap benefits of the account such as good rates of interest paying 3% between £3000 and £20,000 1.5% under £3000 also cash back on various household bills. Then the cost of having the account raised to £5 per month which is quite steep the benefits in terms of interest and cashback remained the same still making it reasonably competitive especially if accruing 3% interest. Now the interest rates have dropped to flat rate of 1.5% up to savings of £20,000 but the monthly fee remains at £5 so kind of unfair towards the people who have invested more into the bank lower savers have remained in the same situation. Very disappointed as gives people more reason to not remain loyal and shop around. Reviewed on: 3rd February 2017

Interest rates halved - is it still worth it?

I have been with Santander approaching 3 years. Initially I was drawn to it by its interest rate and cashback. The interest rate has been halved from this month, which is disappointing. I think they should have reduced it on a tiered basis, not just cut it so dramatically. It was one of the main reasons for taking the account, and not so long ago, the monthly fee was increased too so its costing more now and earning less. Reviewed on: 1st February 2017

Earn money for paying bills.

I have earned hundreds of pounds on my current account in interest and money paid to me for paying my utility bills and mortgage. I earn about £20 a month just for banking. Reviewed on: 31st January 2017

Changes have made this much less competitive

The 1,2,3 used to give a healthy 3% interest on balances of up to 20k, for a small monthly fee. That fee has recently increased, whilst the interest rate has been slashed in half. The amount you can earn via cash back on bills etc. has also been capped at a very small amount per month. It really is time to get looking for another bank... Reviewed on: 27th January 2017

Simply the best return on savings

If you have more than a few thousand in savings, then you can achieve the best rate, easy access cash in one account. As long as you qualify for monthly deposit and a couple of direct debits. Easy to operate on line. Brilliant! Reviewed on: 27th January 2017

Very helpful

I've always had a positive experience with Santander. Every single member of staff in different branches have been excellent and very helpful and polite. I get regular telephone calls from the mortgage advisor to check (not in a pushy or annoying way) how my house hunt is going. I think the £5 monthly charge on the 123 account is pretty high though compared to other banks. I love the app for my mobile and they have improved it recently so now it's even more useful and easy to use! Reviewed on: 26th January 2017
