Worst healthcare insurer on the market

We had a terrible experience, lack of customer service. I had a medical done in Jan 17 and I'm still awaiting the report and I have chased over and over. In the end such a poor service I cancelled my direct debit. Bupa made the Nhs look good! Reviewed on: 30th May 2017

Be wary of your renewal date and excess being renewed!

I recently had an operation covered by Bupa. My excess was £200. Which I paid. I then started getting more bills through the door. I phoned Bupa and it was explained to me that my policy had been renewed and that meant so had my excess. I said I wasn't happy with this as I was assured previously that the only amount I would be paying was £200 for the procedure I was having and at no point did any of the customer service representatives mention that the policy was nearing renewal and that meant my excess would be reset. The cust rep I just spoke to told me I should have been told, but I wasn't. I had a couple of times when I was told the previous people I had spoken to either should have said something or shouldn't have. It seemed like a shambles. So now I'm stuck with having to pay another £200 even though everything was authorised before renewal and just because invoices were received just after my renewal date. If I had been warned about the excess reset, I could have asked the hospitals to try and get the invoices in before a certain date. But it was not mentioned in any of the many conversations I had with Bupa. I will be telling people to avoid Bupa. Reviewed on: 28th October 2016

Genuine caring company

In my experience BUPA really listens to health experts to understand what healthcare their clients need. I received medical help long-term and was told not to expect health insurance to cover long-term treatment, but BUPA worked with my therapist to understand what was the best way forward and they ended up covering the whole treatment. Get the highest plan and benefit from full consultations, diagnostic tests, treatment, hospital in and out patient treatments pyschiatric, cancer, and heart cover, plus alternative therapies, and hospital cash plan. With BUPA you can also upgrade your monthly plan when you travel to Europe or other countries like the USA.
