Review of the Direct Line, Car Insurance:

Poor communication on claim handle

I have been with direct line car insurance for more than 15 years . Everything will fine as long as you won’t deal any claims with them Recent experience and also had experience in the past when incident been reported , direct line never communicate back the decision of the claim happend to me back . I have communicated not taking liability when reported incident however without notifying me they took a decision to liable and add claim on me . Poor service of handle of claim . I will never buy from direct line insurance even if it cheaper . Till the renewal letter comes no communication about claim , when I raise complaint . Direct line saying below s, however on page 33 of your policy booklet, it states: "We're entitled to do either of the following: ) Take over and carry out the negotiation, defence or settlement of any claim in your name, or in the name of any other person covered by this policy. ) Start legal proceedings in your name, or in the name of any other person connected to this policy. This can be for your benefit or our own benefit." They took over claim and does not notify you . You must be very careful when dealing with with Direct line claim as they always try to put claim liability on you never try to take your opinion and does not give you to utilise motor legal Reviewed on: 23rd November 2024

Nice and easy to deal with

I've never had any issues with Direct Line, they're always polite and helpful if I need to contact them. They only loose one star because there are cheaper options out there. Reviewed on: 12th August 2018

Perfectly good

I have insured my car with Direct Line, on and off, for over 2 decades. On the rare occasion I have had to deal with them they have been fine. I'd only quibble about the amount offered when my car was written off many years ago but I think it is the market standard to only pay out a trade in value rather than a dealer price so I doubt any other company would have been better. I do a price comparison every few years and they are normally still competitive or the cheapest which is why I haven't changed - can't give a better recommendation than that! Great Price Great Cover

They came up with the best price, and the cover is better than others could provide at that price. I get to keep my no claims bonus if I am hit by an uninsured driver, and also if my car is damaged whilst parked up Reviewed on: 28th July 2018

Always been a good service and I trust the brand

I have been a motor insurance customer with them for years. I will never chose the cheapest of anything, and so in fairness Direct Line is not a price decision, which personally I think is so often a false economy. But I know the customer service is great and I they were great when someone knocked off my painted wing mirror. Reviewed on: 28th July 2018
