AVOID AVOID AVOID !!! I put in a claim for a leak in a bathroom . Direct line rejected it by a outsourcing company called SEDWICKS . They used a loss adjuster . He said the leak was there before you bought the place so we won’t pay you and you have to get in touch with previous owner who lives in Singapore and ask for him to put in a claim with his insurance lol very bizarre. So sedgwicks so called leak expect with 30 years of experience who looks like 20 (by the way he has no damp experience or leak) said direct line don’t have to pay you as it says in the terms and condition and if you go to court I will lose . SO READ THE 100 PAGE TNCs before you sign up to direct line landlord insurance . Worse experience I had considering I’m a new landlord from start to finish . I even got integrated on the phone . “ but you said he when it was a she “ so I must have forgotten I spoke to a female or male . SHOCKING service considering how much I pay . I’m 32 I only made one claim in my life . I got home insurance with them which I will cancel at some point and my landlord insurance but my tenants deciding not to pay so I will have to make another claim with directline as I’m not doing the bathroom as I can’t afford it. I’m sure they will come out with another excuse . So my question is to everyone . When you buy a place would you check underneath the tiles and floorboards and rip everything out before buying ?? Who does that ? No sign of mould or damp when I bought the place . This gives insurance a bad name and I hope the government do more in situations like this . Reviewed on: 20th February 2019

Fantastic - very good price each time I go with them (I alternate each year with other insurance companies like Admiral to get 'new customer discount) when I did have to make a claim on car insurance they were excellent. In fact the car that was in an accident was old and my mechanic thought that no insurance company would repair using 2nd hand parts and therefore it would be written off. I asked if they could repair with second hand parts and although there was a bit of confusion in the end they confirmed this and with my mechanic and the car was repaired - I was very relieved as it was a difficult time financially /logistically and time-management-wise to be looking for a new car. Plus they have a 'no quibble' baby car seat replacement policy which was very easy to use and my car seat was delivered in a way that worked for me. Very impressed with them - will continue to use them - and have recently got a very competitive quote for home/contents insurance. Reviewed on: 2nd January 2019

Watch out!

A couple of years ago we were checking through our joint account statement to see if me could make any economies, and noticed that my partner's car insurance with Direct Line was ludicrously high, over £600 per year. Mine with a different company was around £200, but my partner had just automatically renewed each year without checking the amount. He changed to another company that cost less than half for the same level of cover. I know insurance costs go up, but that's taking the mickey! Reviewed on: 23rd September 2018

Fantastic cover and customer service at a great price

As a family we have used Direct Line for numerous insurance products over the years. We have also found their customer service unbeatablea and that’s exactly why we choose to stick with them! Their website is really easy to use and their staff are very friendly and helpful. Plus the price is always right. What more could you want from an insurance provider? Simple and efficient

I didn't find direct line on any of the comparison sites which made me think they are confident in their product. I decided to give them a call and they came out cheaper than most of the ones listed on the comparison sites. I chose DL as they are an established, well known brand and I although I have yet to need them I am confident that if I do they will be available for me Reviewed on: 22nd September 2018
