Review of the Great Western Credit Union, Loans:

Supportive, Compassionate & non judgemental.

I lived on my own as a young teenager coming out of care in the 80s I had no financial support and what followed from this Was many years of being in debt. I lost my high street bank account in the middle of a financial crisis I felt totally abandoned by my bank, I was in a complete mess. I didn’t think I would ever be credit worthy but a Friend recommended Bristol Credit Union to me, I opened an account and saved a small amount of money for emergencies then applied for a loan to help me consolidate my debt. Bristol Credit Union agreeing to this loan changed my life, it took away all those sleepless nights worrying about finding the money, I could start to answer my phone again without being scared. Now I am debt free and making plans to renovate my home. I am so thankful for all the help and advise I have been given and have recommended them to friends & family it makes me feel proud that they help people and businesses in the local community, I would never again open a high street bank account. Brilliant service over many years

I have had a loan a few times and it has always been so easy to setup. It helped me in times of need. Support for those on a less secure income

I struggle with money and I have never had a problem with the Credit union, if anything all it has done is helped to have an account with them, though I don't save much, it's always enough to juggle with a problem and enough to cover a missed payment on my loan. I save to pay for my van and big expens3s and it always helps me to have a savings account because I am able to obtain a loan once 3very so often o ly when I really need it for something big. Not For Me

Have had loans in the past and paid in full no issues. They now do not loan to me at all. They work like a normal loan provider, credit checks etc however they take days getting back to you. Not really for local community, if they were they would understand not everyones credit file would be the same. When a loan is declined the email you get isnt friendly at all, listing out issues etc. Not happy with the service me or my husband get as members. Reviewed on: 20th May 2025
