Review of the Halifax, Clarity credit card:

-7.5% for exchange rate

This card gives you free withdrawals aboard but at a stink exchange rate of 7.5%. If you do use if for a cash withdrawal pay it off straight away so you don't start paying interest. However it is good for paying for purchases etc as you get the interbank rate. Reviewed on: 6th June 2017

Best Credit card for abroad

This is the best card to take abroad, it does not charge you any fees when using to purchase goods. It is also good for using in this country too Reviewed on: 4th April 2018

Holiday disaster

I don't know we're to start right from the word go this card ruined our holiday to Australia , with constant declines then would work. Had to relie on friends and strangers for help. Now back shall be making a visit to the Halifax to complain after being told it will work every were. Reviewed on: 17th March 2018

Trying to use the card abroad

In the days when you could phone the bank to tell them you were going abroad, there was never a problem. Now they say, there's no need to tell us. However i did call Halifax to clarify charges on the card, and at the same time told them i was going to India. On arrival in India, i went to the ATM only to have my card rejected. The ATM then also rejected my Halifax debit card. By this time there was a queue behind me to use the ATM. So i went to the currency exchange and changed some British pounds. In the taxi on the way to the hotel, received two texts asking if i had attempted to use my cards. I responded to both texts and received another two thanking me for using the fraud line and that i should wait another ten minutes before attempting to use the cards again. All well and good but the system doesn't work as well as it used to and will now have to pay for all six texts. Reviewed on: 5th February 2018
