Affordable for young drivers

I’m 18 and just got my first year of insurance with black box which helps save lots of money. It was quick delivery and the app is excellent - I recommended to all my friends starting to pass their driving tests! Reviewed on: 16th September 2024

Disorganised and liars

Awful experience following an accident get passed from pillar to post, constant misinformation (and in some case down right lies), always having to chase for answers and just generally incredibly unhelpful. Didn't collect the car for ages so was reported abandoned, took nearly two weeks to provide courtesy car, decided the claim was at fault when it wasn't, wrote off then sold on the car without transferring details so received numerous parking fines for months afterwards, undervalued the car, claimed was handled by 10+ people one of who said it had been settled and paid out in full and there was nothing that could be changed as I had accepted fault when that was not the case... There when you need them most

forget advertising, this company is there when you need them most, I got stuck in the middle of nowhere and phoned direct from the app they came to my aid within the hour, which sounds bad, but it was near Christmas and freezing weather, it was also 3am. the lady on the phone was very polite and the whole experience was easy. Essential product: cheap, no frills, limited

I haven't had a lot of issues with Hastings, but I've not had a crash since I joined them a little under a year ago. Unlike every other insurance company I've had in the past, Hastings Essential doesn't allow you to drive other peoples' cars with 3rd party cover only, which is a bit limiting. Otherwise, fairly standard insurance and very cheap. Reviewed on: 12th July 2019

comprehensive cover
