Review of the John Lewis, Partnership credit card:

Why change to New Day and lose credibility?

1
Had a partnership card for over 30 years, always smoothly. Now New Day are involved and I get a letter telling me my emails are not reaching me. Given log in puts me on a black screen with JOHNLEEISCREITCARD.COM in blood letters with links to credit cards that have nothing at all to do with John Lewis cards. Spelling wrong and looks like it’d been done by a hacker or a child. Lost all confidence cut up my card and rang New Day they are hopeless Reviewed on: 8th November 2022

Shocking!

1
Randomly blocks card but doesn’t inform why. Call centre a nightmare. I will be cancelling my card. Had old card for 15 years without issue. Don’t bother. A total shambles JL- not the service you expect Reviewed on: 17th July 2023

Great for the JL vouchers, nothing else

2
Tried to increase the imposed credit limit to pay for a holiday, computer said no. Online chat with an agent, computer said no but call to speak with an agent who they were sure would help. Had 3 goes but couldn't get beyond the automated voice responses. Gave up. Reviewed on: 12th July 2023

Ditch Newday Amazon did

1
Never had a credit card like it odd amounts added to balance not on statement. This month shows I haven't paid requested £5 well that's correct as I paid £289.11 early July!!! Balance us near as it should be but its a few £ up on last night?? Can't get answer on phone. Is there a Chat with a person online if so where. When probably sorted out will be closing which us a shame as I have had J/L store card since 1976/7 Reviewed on: 9th July 2023

my refund is missing

1
I returned an item to john lewis, under guarantee, on 4th july 2023 I was told that my refund had been sent to the old defunct JL card run by hsbc. JL customer service were awful, no help at all. HSBC does not provide any easy way to contact them either. I have raised a complaint and next step will be the financial ombudsman, Believe me, I will follow this up until my money is returned to me Reviewed on: 6th July 2023

new day are awful - avoid

1
with original hsbc card had a reasonable credit limit, new day reduced by almost a third when we queried told it was because they were a small bank !!!! we pay our bill in full every month and have an almost perfect credit rating. John Lewis need to get thus sorted so we can continue to spend at waitrose and john ewis Reviewed on: 3rd July 2023

Where is my refund ?

1
I had a nil balance at the changeover from HSBC to Newday all straight forward opening new account, however I have since had a refund from Virgin Atlantic for £100 sent to the old account in March. JL advised there’s nothing they can do as the account is closed and to take it up with Virgin however Virgin insist the money was sent and had not been returned to them so to take it up with JL. Who say not their problem as they no longer deal with HSBC. Must be a lot of people out there who are in the same position. Someone is benefitting from all our refunds but who ? No one taking responsibility. Reviewed on: 18th June 2023

Why why why did you move to New day!!!

1
The HSBC John Lewis Card was just not even comparable it was so much better Reviewed on: 16th June 2023

An unreliable credit card

1
Ever since the credit card has been managed by New Day, I have repeatedly had my transactions (in a store or online) declined, even when I have validated the transaction by logging into the app. I had raised a complaint with New Day but it was closed, saying that they followed the processes. I have zero confidence in using my card. Rubbish. Reviewed on: 16th June 2023

Great offer

4
The 0% offer was a lengthy period of time and I await my vouchers. The app is reasonably clear to use and many options to pay swiftly. I had 1 error of when a payment said it failed but it didn't. Otherwise, no issues. Reviewed on: 15th June 2023

NewDay ClownShow

1
I received my first statement on my John Lewis Partnership Card, managed by NewDay in December 2022 and paid off the balance, in full, the day after it arrived. However, on the 19th January, this year, I received a letter from NewDay, informing me that my John Lewis account had been suspended because I had not made a payment the previous month. I wrote to them in February about this matter, enclosing copies of the receipt that the bank issued, confirming the payment had been made and an extract from the relevant bank statement, showing that the money had been taken from my current account. Four months after providing physical evidence that I had paid off the balance, in full, I am still awaiting a reply. Despite this, the threatening letters from NewDay continued to arrive. So far, a total of 12 letters from this ClownShow have dropped through my letterbox, each of them threatening me with court action and/or passing the matter on to a debt collection company. Each letter also informs me that my credit rating has been adversely affected by this non-debt. I have an excellent credit rating and have never in my life defaulted on a payment to John Lewis or anyone else This matter is having an adverse effect on my mental health. I have had an account with John Lewis for over 40 years but I will never spend another penny in any John Lewis of Waitrose store, ever again. I an taking this matter up with the Financial Ombudsman Reviewed on: 8th June 2023
