Generally helpful

We have had car and home insurance with LV in the past and found them generally well organised and helpful. The customer service people did seem to be able to understand our needs and also were in the UK. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015

Avoid LV Landlord Insurance - not fit for purpose

Avoid LV Landlord Insurance - the policy is not fit for purpose. I took out Landlord Insurance with LV as they claim to cover: ‘Accidental damage, vandalism and theft by your tenants covered as standard’ ‘Your legal liability as a landlord covered up to £5m’ I had awful tenants who left the property damage and vandalised. The damage exceeded the security deposit by £1000. LV refused to pay out as; Rustam Hussain, customer relations adviser, closed my case as I couldn't prove the damage happened on one day, the previous tenants were un-cooperative with their investigation and the tenants caused the damage. As it was clear LV were going to avoid paying out I made inquiries about using the legal cover, which i had bought as an optional extra. I was asked to sign an engagement letter to say I would be responsible for up to £7000. This exceeds the amount you can claim in Small Claims Court. I would advise anyone not to use LV. I have now had to open a case with the Financial Ombudsman. Reviewed on: 8th September 2025

Hundreds cheaper than SAGA

Significantly cheaper than SAGA used previously by hundreds of pounds. Cannot vouch for claims performance having not made one. Hence lower ratings but impressed otherwise. Reviewed on: 8th September 2025

5* customer service

Always easy to contact a real person, and they are always friendly and helpful. A big part of the reason we’ve chosen to stay with them for many years. I have moved away occasionally for price reasons but always come back Reviewed on: 7th September 2025
