WORST bank I have ever used

I would give them -10 if possible ***DO NOT USE THIS USELESS EXCUSE OF A BANK ** Hands down the WORST bank I’ve used. Staff are not trained properly. They’re rude. Aggressive. Head office are worse. If you value your finances then stay away from Metro Bank. Reviewed on: 30th January 2021

Only Bank OPENING stores/Branches

I initially joined Metro Bank when I used to go to London for Meetings. When I changed jobs I closed the account. However Metro Bank is no longer London Centric and they are up North in Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield. I've rejoined they offer a friendly and efficient service, you get a debit card and cheque book instantly on opening an account. The store/Branch Manager is introduced to you. How banking used to be but modern and updated. Dog friendly too! So glad to be back with Metro Bank. Banking the way it should be with the friendly human touch! Reviewed on: 19th January 2021

Terrible banking experience

I am banking with Metro both personal and business and it’s been very painful! Most painful thing is that you have to wait until 2nd week of the month to get bank statement!! I am buying new car and I cannot provide Decembers statement because it’s nit there!!!! Tragic! Switching now to Mozno! Think before you open Metro Bank account Reviewed on: 7th January 2021

No other bank comes close!

I've been with Metro Bank for many years now and have always been nothing short of delighted with their offering. Everything is quick, easy and simple. If you need to get in touch you can either go in and see them even on a Sunday, or call them up where they are happy to go above and beyond for you. If only they would move a little further north and open up a few more stores so I could ditch my other account that I have to keep solely for depositing cash and cheques when there isn't a location nearby. AVOID THEM!

Fine until you have the slightest issue, then it becomes a nightmare. If you have hours to kill on the phone and want to spend it with a useless customer service then choose metrobank! Even fixing an incorrect amount on a bank statement is an tremendous difficulty to them. AVOID THEM! Reviewed on: 4th August 2020

Unparalleled levels of service and convenience - absolutely true

Definitely unparalleled as I have never experienced anything like it with any other organisation or bank. I have been waiting since 7th July to access money from a matured bond with no success. The wait on the phone is interminable and when you do finally get through you are met with a completely inept customer service. Metro Bank have made mistakes which they admit to but have still not rectified the situation in spite of promises made. The situation has caused me immense stress and I could never countenance dealing with them in the future nor recommend anyone else to do so. Meanwhile they still have my money so they are sitting pretty whilst I am becoming more and more frustrated. When you own a problem you should then take action to deal with it but they have not. Account frozen in middle of covid-19 lock down leaving me stranded with a child at Exeter train station over night

Metro bank are the worst bank ever rude hang up constantly and freeze my account cause I sold my private car and received back payment due to covid 19. When I sold it I agreed to deliver to the buyer I dropped the car to Exeter and went to get a train back home Southampton, went to purchase my £40 ticket and it was declined despite several thousand available I tried again same outcome I ended up stranded at the airport in the middle of a covid pandemic with a very frightened 13 year old girl who had come with me. The next day after network rail gave us both a ticket free of charge I rang to find out my account is blocked over the payment the buyer made to me I provided all the proof of the payment and a statement from the buyer saying they transferred it and did so willingly still remained froze only let me access 1200 of a 9000 balance I attended the bank raised he’ll politely and was told they would let me withdraw half while they looked into this transfer I drove half hour back to the bank for them to say no you can only have 1000 after they had Rang me to go in and collect 4000 account still remains blocked they don’t let you talk to the department dealing with it and hang up on the phone avoid like the plague Reviewed on: 5th May 2020

ABSOLUTE USELESS THEY HAVE AROUND FIVE COUNTERS ONLY ONE PERSON EVER SERVING SO THE WAIT CAN TAKE AGES TO BE SEEN... TAKES FOR EVER TO CLOSE A BUSSINESS ACCOUNT AFTER SIGNING THE PAPER WORK & GOING THEIR THREE TIMES... CLEARLY SO THEY CAN KEEP CHARGING YOU ACCOUNT FEE'S THEY DONT LIKE YOU WITHDRAWING LARGE AMOUNTS OF CASH... IF YOU DO THEY WANNA CLOSE YOUR BUSSINESS ACCOUNT, IF CASH IS ILLEGAL STOP GIVING IT OUT.. SERVICE IS TERRIBLE STAFF HAVE NO BANKING SKILLS WHAT SO EVER AS SPEAKING TO A MEMBER OF STAFF IN METRO BANK SERVING ME THEIR PREVIOUS JOB WAS A PAINTER & DECORATOR! ABIT OF A CHANGE.. THEY WILL TAKE ANYONE ON... THE BUSSISNESS BANK MANAGER IN BROMLEY DONT GET ME STARTED ON HER EXTREAMLY RUDE QUESTIONING ME WHEN WITHDRAWING MONEY (ITS MY MONEY) & IT COSTS ME TO WITHDRAW MONEY FROM A BUSSINESS ACCOUNT I HOPE SHE GETS THE SHITS.. (THE WORST BANK AROUND) DONT BE FOOLED WITH THEM BEING OPEN TILL 8OCLOCK & OPEN ON SUNDAYS.. THAT IS ONLY THING GOING FOR THEM BUTS LETS FACE IT THEY HAVE TO DO SANK DIFFERENT TO GET PEOPLE TO WANT TO JOIN? IF ANY BANK GOES BUST IT WILL BE METRO BANK THEY ARE THE NEWEST BANK IN THE HIGH STREET THEY WONT LAST GO WITH BARCLAYS BEEN AROUND 300 YEARS METRO BANK BEEN AROUND 15 MINUTES.. Can't access my funds, 3 hours on the hotline, problem still not solved.

I'm deeply unhappy about Metrobank and its services and I can only urge anyone to stay away from them! The short story is: Metro bank blocked my account, goes inactive when I ask them to unblock it, all while I'm stuck away from Britain without access to my funds. Therefore I can only tell anyone: *Stay away from Metro Bank* I will look into making a formal complaint & posting my experiences on further social media outlets, if this won't be resolved ASAP, since Metro bank keeps taking no action upon my numerous phone inquiries (5 calls so far, totaling approx. whopping 3 hours) into solving this problem. The whole story: For some reason one of my transfers has been identified as suspicious and my account was blocked. Ok, could have happened to anybody. But instead of having a phone call resolve this situation, I have now in total called metro bank 5 (!) times, spend approx 3 hours being on the phone - and my account is still closed. Why? Since I keep going through the same cycle that leads nowhere: After the person at the customer service speak a number of times to their manager, they tell me to come to store. I inform them that I'm away travelling, then they speak to their manager once more, then they tell me "they will look into it", since some higher up needs to give clearance and I will either get a call back, or my account will be unblocked the next day. But nothing happens. Then I call again, they apologize, tell me again that the exact same things, *but again nothing gets done*. I still can't access my account. I don't want an apology, I want this fixed! I just came off a phone call from someone called "Claudia", and in the middle of it, after being put on hold to speak some manager, they simply ended ended the call! Unacceptable. I only once got a phone call back - but couldn't pick up, because I was in a meeting. I repeatedly told customer service to either use email (which apparently customer service is not allowed to do) or to call me multiple times, because I may not be able to pick up that instant they call - but that obviously fell on deaf ears. Even arranging a callback needs the extra blessing of a manager higher up the hierarchy (which again results in me being put on hold), geesh! I even suggested arranging a skype meeting, if these supposed managers to which my query is relayed, constantly resort to letting me know via first-line customer support that "they will look into what they can do" if I can't come into store. If I would charge you my hourly rate that I spend waiting on hold, or going through authentication and explaining my problem over and over again -since these are wasted hours that I am on phone, that I could otherwise spend working- this would be quite a bill already!
