Fantastic business banking.

Fantastic business banking. Free access to FreeAgent software which is so useful for HMRC reporting (works with the new making tax digital scheme). Customer service is great & has the option to put money into pots for savings goals. Reviewed on: 17th April 2026

It would be excellent value at twice the price

I've been very new to running a business, and the banking and accounts side of things was tbh a bit of a concern. I found the account opening procedure fairly straight forward and the account very easy to manage through the app. Things have gone so smoothly that I've hardly ever needed to contact mettle support but when I have response has been prompt and efficient. Also it is free to bank - though to be fair deposit rates aren't outstanding.What makes mettle standout though is the integration with Freeagent, it is very easy to use and if you need help it's there either by web chat (the best I've experienced) or phone if you're really stuck. Excellent functionality for sole traders and the self-employed just starting up. Freeagent integration is amazing value, and customer service has always been active and responsive in the rare instance where a potential incoming payment issue occurred. Reviewed on: 17th April 2026

I’ve been using Mettle for my business banking, and honestly, it’s been exactly what I need — simple, reliable, and built for small business owners who don’t have time for faff. The setup was quick and painless, and everything is handled through the app, which is clean and easy to use. Day-to-day banking is straightforward, whether it’s sending payments, tracking income, or keeping an eye on cash flow. The real standout for me is how well it integrates with accounting tools — it takes a lot of the headache out of staying organised. I also like the Pots feature for setting aside tax and expenses — it’s a small thing, but it makes a big difference when you’re managing money on the go. Notifications are instant, and I always know where the business stands financially. For a sole trader or small operation, it ticks all the boxes. No unnecessary complications, no hidden surprises — just a solid, modern business account that does exactly what it says on the tin.
