Monzo offer a free bank account for under 16s, with controls set by their parent or guardian.

Kids get their own neon card and can see their money in the Monzo app. Parents or Guardians can keep an eye on the account, set spending limits and schedule pocket money.

Brilliant kids accounts

My two daughters have Monzo accounts and we love them. We used to be with GoHenry but it was hugely expensive and we couldn't transfer money both ways. Quite often the kids get me to buy them something then pay me back, and this is so easy with Monzo. My eldest also has a savings pot set up and loves that she gets interest on it. Monzo are excellent

I’ve had a really positive experience using Monzo. The app is incredibly easy to use and makes managing money feel simple and transparent. Everything from checking balances to categorising spending happens instantly, which helps me stay on top of my finances without any effort. One of the standout features is the real-time notifications — every time I spend, I immediately see where my money has gone. The budgeting tools and “pots” feature are also excellent for setting money aside for different goals, whether it’s bills, savings, or travel. Customer support has also been reliable whenever I’ve needed help, and the overall design of the app feels modern and intuitive. Compared to traditional banks, Monzo feels much more in tune with how people actually manage money today. It has been so easy to set up and run the U16 bank accounts - I have one for both my children. My children love having control of their own money, seeing what their balance is and using their cards themselves. Reviewed on: 6th March 2026

Monzo under 16's account

I joined Monzo from a referral. I was delighted when the under 16's account was released with savings options as my son wanted to be able to put his money in specific savings pots. Its getting him financially aware from a young age. Reviewed on: 6th March 2026
