Stressful

Auto renewed after cancelling auto renew! and took my money anyway!!

I am fuming! They have taken 565GBP WITHOUT my consent.
Firstly their website didnt find my address when I bought the policy in 2018, so I had to phone and speak to an advisor. When I moved house, it was seamless. When I changed my car, again, it was easy to do so.
But to try and cancel the auto renew! What a joke! I tried to phone 3 times, no answers, I then contacted Linson via Live Chat and explained what I wanted to do. He accepted that I had cancelled the auto renew. But a few days after the due date, I contacted for my NCB. I logged in to find a new policy started in 2019 and that 565gbp was taken from my bank account. I phoned up, apparently I had asked to cancel THE auto renew, not to cancel ON auto renew!! I did exactly what the website tells you to do to not auto renew! I phoned up to cancel this policy as I had not authorised it, and to get a refund. I was told 4-5 working days for the money to be back in my account. 1 week later and I phone to see where it is.. its not been processed and will be in my bank account in 4-5 working days!! What an absolute joke! I asked for a manager and to be escalated. They said they might be able to do an electronic funds transfer.. WHY cant they do that to begin with!?

Insured my daughters car AUGUST 2018 with this company, thinking it was a reputable company! How wrong I was! I paid just short of £1000 pound for the 12 months with 5000 miles! Big mistake, which I had been warned by others and didn't listen.
She only had 1000 miles left just before Christmas, So being a good dad I called them to add more mileage, I couldn't believe I had to pay £175.00 for 1000 miles. After an hour on the phone with them explaining where she could improve ie don't travel after 11pm.
This Feb 18 my daughters scores for speed/smoothness has been 10/10, she's not driven after 11pm as advised, yet her usage would fail to get above 5 .All her driving has been local journeys and out of peak times! The black box doesn't benefit you for driving out of peak times and also in rural quiet area's.
I called them yesterday to get a cost for another 1000 miles, I WAS GOB SMACKED £180.00. The lady on the phone was pleasant enough but told me that making more than 7 journey's in 24hrs they would be penalised her for it, no matter how far she travelled in the journey? At no point were we made aware of this when I signed up to this over the phone, apparently its in your terms and conditions they send you! The ones that are that small you can't read!!!
THIS IS A TOTAL FARSE, THERE IS NO WAY YOU ARE GOING TO ACHIEVE 10/10 FOR USAGE UNLESS YOU LEAVE YOUR CAR PARKED UP PERMANENTLY.
My daughter has only been driving 5 months now, but watching her you would think she had been driving for some years, how can anyone gain experience if their being penalised for taking the car out. I was also made aware that if she had gained maximum points for the month it would of been £150 per 1000 miles at its best price.
THIS IS JUST A MONEY MAKING PIT, GIVE YOU A CHEAP QUOTE TO START WITH TO LURE YOU IN. I THOUGHT DICK TURPIN DIED ALONG TIME AGO!!!

BE WORNED IF YOU WISH TO USE YOUR CAR
DON'T INSURE WITH SMART WHEELS!!!!!

I had 2 Golden Retrievers insured from puppies by More Than who are ok until you have a claim. My female Goldie tore her cruciate ligament requiring surgical repair. Claim went through fine, recovery requiring hydrotherapy. All went well until I had the next year premium, which increased by 200% and a stipulation that if she tore her other cruciate ligament, she would not be covered. I was horrified as I had the highest cover. I contacted them and complained. They argreed to lower the premium and still cover the other cruciate if need be. Following year, massive premium increase again and cruciate ligament removed from cover. This put her premium to over £1000 a year. Again I was disgusted and discontinued her cover. My Male Goldie had an unexpected attack of Gastroenerotis requiring 2 overnight stays in vet hospital on a drip. Claim went through fine until the following year premium. You guessed it, went up massively to over £1000, more than the amount I had claimed for. I phoned and spoke to a very cocky young man. His explanation was that my male dog was now placed on high risk category. I asked why. He said because of my claim, which I explained was less than the annual increase. He basically said tough. I asked why he was high risk and he said it was because of the illness of the claim. I explained that any dog regardless of breed can get gastroenteritis of unknown origin. Im a senior nurse and know what I’m on about. He clearly had no idea. I got no where, so I cancelled the premium. Between the 2 dogs I have saved over £4500. So if either of them become ill I have the money I need without paying this rip off company. I would NEVER advise anyone to use this company. They are an absolute disgrace. Have no empathy or understanding. Their telephonists have no idea what they are on about and basically don’t care. So AVOID at all cost. There are much better pet insurers out there.

I chose MORE THAN as my first year insurance company as it was very cheap in comparison to all the other companies, BIG MISTAKE!

Firstly my monthly payments were increased by £20 per month from changing to an address which gave me a much cheaper quote than my original address (this is not too big of an issue).

Secondly they say your usage score is only affected when taking lots of journeys or driving after 11pm which is fair enough however over the past few months I have been persistently marked down for driving my car at any time. Using my car from 2pm till about 10pm resulted in a - score which is disgusting.

I have been emailed asking to provide feedback on my insurance and my experiences only to be told I am wrong for providing my opinion on their service.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. PLEASE STAY AWAY EVEN IF THEY ARE YOUR CHEAPEST QUOTE. SHOP AROUND AND FIND SOMEONE ELSE EVEN IF IT COSTS AN EXTRA 100+ ANNUALLY.

MoreThan are quite literally the worst insurers I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I've made two claims with them and both have been a nightmare. They don't pay up front like most reputable insurers, they will try and underhanded tactic to avoid paying (I actually had the claim "advisor" pretend to get the dates I'd told him wrong to attempt to invalidate my claim- I was 2 weeks into a 12 MONTH claim period so it was pretty jarringly obvious). A claim I made for emergency vet bill costing nearly £2000 took months to settle and I was out of pocket the whole time. Scummy, thieving, evil company. They've also got no online functionality so everything has to be done via post or phone call, the most advanced thing you can do is email a PDF of your claim form. Not that they'll do anything with it.
Your premiums will also be subject to vast hikes for even the most minor claim, and gods help you if you have to actually claim for anything major

Unfairly treated, my insurance was threatened with cancellation because my car had a stripe on it, which the black box installation guru took offence at and decided that it would increase the speed of my car or the likelihood that it will be stolen. A 90s heap of rubbish is doubled in value due to a stripe is it???

After removing the stripe and grovelling for a second chance to get in the company good books, i was set for a year of insurance with the company (I couldn’t afford anyone better at the time). When it came time to increase the mileage of my insurance policy, i was told to pay up £300 for 1000 miles. Yes that’s right, that’s almost 30p/mile, before I’ve even put fuel in the car. My current insurance company charged me £30 for 2000 more miles.

Overall, if you hate customer service, think that fair treatment is overrated and enjoy hassle, go with MoreThan for your black box car insurance. Haven’t I sold them to you? Well i’d Highly recommend paying that little bit more for a company who are respectable and reasonable.

Don’t fall in the same I trap I fell into! The price was very deceiving given that it was the cheapest insurance company for a new driver. Not only is their customer service poor, but the policy itself is terrible especially if you install a black box. They will score your usage down if you’re stuck in traffic for over an hour and if you drive after 11. If you can avoid getting a policy with them and go for a better alternative do so with no hesitation as you will save yourself from unnecessary stress, knowing that you’re paying a higher amount for a better and more professional company!

My elderly female lone pensioner neighbour had locked herself out of her house on this cold January evening. She came to my house to call More Than ( Royal Sun Alliance ) as she was covered under her home emergency policy . She was on hold for almost an hour , with repetitive ‘ our agents are busy dealing with other calls .... ‘ and then they just hung up on her and cut the call after almost an hour on hold ! What ?? How can you do this to a valued elderly customer in need ? Absolutely disgraceful !! I think she went on to arrange her own locksmith so she could get access to her own home . I wouldn’t insure with these clowns if they were the only insurance company on earth . Words fail me !

My driving is fine, I’m scoring 10/10 for speed and 10/10 for smoothness but because I use my car quite a lot (but still in the allocated mileage I was given) they mark you down so much so now my overall score is 2/10 purely for the fact I use my car a lot, i rang up as I didn’t feel like it was fair and they told me if I use my car more than 4 times in a day I will get marked down, it is very Hard to get your score back up, you make one little mistake and they will bring your score straight down, but you drive perfectly for 3 weeks straight and your score will not go up st all, its a joke my insurance is up until in April and I will not be returning with them, also I went to Skegness on holiday about 4 and a half hours away from me, my car broke down while I was away and had to be towed home on the back of a tow truck, the engine was off I had the keys in my pocket so I know it was definitely off but because the tow truck was speeding and not very smooth they marked my score all the way down and marked down my miles because my black box picked up th tow trucks driving, apparently more than reckon my engine was definitely on and they could tell I was driving, it wouldn’t even start so I don’t know how they can tell it was definitely used it got towed 4 hours back to my house because I couldn’t drive it ridiculous!

Passed from pillar to post and only helpful when they want your money. Have had to threaten them with Data Protection Act and the Financial Ombudsman. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
