More than smart wheels will take every penny they can from you, while having some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. The app is rubbish and crashes every time I use it, and they threatened to cancel my policy because I was parking my car in a different postcode to the one stated, when in reality it was ten metres from my stated address. Talking to them on the phone is a painful and fruitless task, and I've spent a small fortune on topping up my miles after getting a job in a different county. If you have any choice, steer well clear of this horrible, exploitative company.

I have just found that there is a blocked drain at my home, the main outlet to the public sewer, with raw sewage gathering in the garden. The local water board were very helpful and tried to clear it at no charge but, because the blockage is on my property, could do no more. I was not too concerned because I had a MORE TH>N (part of RSA) Home Insurance policy, for both contents and buildings cover, and also including something called Home Emergency Assistance. The wording of the policy describing what is covered by Home Emergency Assistance left me in no doubt that this situation would be covered and I confidently called MORE TH>N.
I was then told by MORE TH>N that this situation would not be covered, the reasons being that there was no damage to the inside of the property and no risk to health and safety etc. Given that the nature of the blockage is that all the drains in and around the house appear to be backed up with gurgling noises are coming from the downstairs sink drains and toilet, it sounds to me as if it is highly likely that sewage will start to come into the house through these. Yet, I was told, this is not considered an emergency! It was suggested that if something changes and damage results that I call back! Essentially, I was on my own. How is that for customer care?
On the basis that this situation is not covered, I feel that I have been misled into buying this insurance policy.
I have just looked at some of the other reviews of this company. I wish I had looked before taking out the policy! Be warned. This is not a company I would ever do business with again.

I have awarded 1 star because it wasn't possible to give no stars....but that is what they truly deserve.

These guys will up your renewal by 200% if you auto renew. That wasn't the end of it for me as I cancelled before they had taken payment. I've had 5 phone calls to reinstate my 8 years no claims bonus, where I have been told different things on each call. Now on the fifth call currently where I've been on hold 10 minutes. Asked what time the complaints department were open, the advisor responded "today." Now advised that they open at 0900 and she will put me on hold for the 4 minutes until then... Useless, useless, useless. Postscript - still on hold 10 minutes later and 6 minutes after the complaints department are supposedly open. Customer service is outsourced to South Africa where they seem clueless (poor training). Spoke to resolution team in Sunderland who advised the notes -from outsourced foreign contact centre- he had read made no sense regarding my query. Needless to say he resolved the issue and emailed within a few hours. All in all what should have been a 48 hour turnaround (to get a letter confirming my correct NCB) was turned into a two week nightmarish hassle. DO NOT USE

Change of insurance

Totally useless!!! 5 phone calls ( each time having to explain what needed).Put on hold several times, got cut off several times and also tried online which also crashed. Only wanted to change my insurance onto a new car....surely that's an every day...

If you're a young driver and choose to go with More Than Smart Wheels because they look cheap, DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE!! Their black box was inaccurate and unfair multiple times, if you need extra miles expect to pay out a huge chunk! (in my case, £670 added onto my policy for 4000 extra miles due to new job further away). I eventually cancelled with them 9 months into my policy because I found a more cost effective company WITHOUT black box, to then get a letter from More Than saying I owe almost £400! I rang up and they confirmed all my payments had been made, but I had outstanding payment on the extra mileage I took out, which was NOT mentioned to me when taking out extra miles or cancelling my policy. Spent 20 minutes arguing and got nowhere with my CASE. I enquired about filing a complaint form and they said for it to be acknowledged it would have to go further and include court, and as a young driver that's normally something no teenager can afford or want to face!! AVOID AND SPEND THAT LITTLE BIT EXTRA ON A COMPANY WHO WON'T SCREW YOU OVER!!

Especially if you’re one of the MANY young people that parents live separately and you spend half you time at each address. Apparently i’m not allowed to stay at my dads overnight anymore or they will cancel my insurance because the car isn’t at my home (mums) address every evening!! How is this fair? I live half and half as most of us do but I register everything to my mums address, Its disgusting and i feel discriminated against. They send you threatening emails and letters through the post.. i’m sorry but how is the fact my parents are not together anymore my fault?? Also, they wont let you change your direct debit date (if you have to pay monthly) to make it more convenient for you & they won’t tell you the cancellation costs of your policy, so you can explore different options instead of staying with them & having to deal with their extremely rude customer services, unless you actually cancel.
They are the worst insurance company I’ve ever come across, no empathy, no understanding, no “treat each customer as an individual” just “Follow our rules exactly or we’ll threaten to cancel your policy which will ruin your chance of getting car insurance again” attitude. Trust me, even if it is the cheapest quote.. PLEASE pay the extra, it is not worth the stress or anxiety it causes. I wouldn't even give them a star if i could. More Than Smart Wheels, you are the WORST car insurance company about & i will be posting this on every review site to hope that other young drivers are not trapped for a year feeling that they do not have the freedom having a car should bring them.

My policy was cancelled without any further notice whatsoever, even though my payments were up to date. I receive an email on the day that my insurance was cancelled. Which was pathetic and unprofessional way to handle such situations . Anyways, I rang them straightaway to find out the reason for cancelling my policy and after a thorough investigation, it confirmed that error was made by one of their employees who did not update their system. Which I was advised to wait between 24 and 48 hours for the policy to be reinstated.

I waited for 72 hours and no phone call was made therefore I decided to ring them again and ask them to explain why the delay in reinstating the policy and provide a valid reason for doing so. However, the unbelievable happened, this particular customer service team member disconnected the phone call; as she didn’t have any explanation to my questions; on why is it taking long to reinstate my policy and why was it cancelled in the first place without a thorough investigation? Adding to this, I even asked to speak to a manager but she went ahead and disconnected the call.

Not only am I frustrated but also very angry to the fact that I had to face a lot of inconveniences for the past few days in arranging taxis for my children school runs, especially when they attend different schools. I was also forced to catch a train to Leicester with husband and children, to visit my elderly mother in law who was hospitalised, including taxi rides to hospital from train station; all this occurred due to someone else’s mistake and yet do not want to own up to it which is the saddest part of it all!

Very unprofessional, no ethics and decency at all! There was no apologies at all, yet the employee had the decency to disconnect the phone call because she didn’t have answers to my questions.

Furthermore, according to another customer service team member the “system defaults itself if there was an error”. What a joke!

Nevertheless, my argument is; the system will not default itself unless they were not updated in the first place! It’s a simple logic!

Therefore, to my conclusion, so far this is the worst company to have insurance with, employees lack empathy and are not skilled enough, including the management teams. The whole company is sham! I wouldn’t even give one star but was required to enable carry on with my review. Definitely not worth it! Would definitely not recommend at all!

To all those whom have experienced this let’s all get together and name and shame this so called company.
