Especially if you’re one of the MANY young people that parents live separately and you spend half you time at each address. Apparently i’m not allowed to stay at my dads overnight anymore or they will cancel my insurance because the car isn’t at my home (mums) address every evening!! How is this fair? I live half and half as most of us do but I register everything to my mums address, Its disgusting and i feel discriminated against. They send you threatening emails and letters through the post.. i’m sorry but how is the fact my parents are not together anymore my fault?? Also, they wont let you change your direct debit date (if you have to pay monthly) to make it more convenient for you & they won’t tell you the cancellation costs of your policy, so you can explore different options instead of staying with them & having to deal with their extremely rude customer services, unless you actually cancel.
They are the worst insurance company I’ve ever come across, no empathy, no understanding, no “treat each customer as an individual” just “Follow our rules exactly or we’ll threaten to cancel your policy which will ruin your chance of getting car insurance again” attitude. Trust me, even if it is the cheapest quote.. PLEASE pay the extra, it is not worth the stress or anxiety it causes. I wouldn't even give them a star if i could. More Than Smart Wheels, you are the WORST car insurance company about & i will be posting this on every review site to hope that other young drivers are not trapped for a year feeling that they do not have the freedom having a car should bring them.

My policy was cancelled without any further notice whatsoever, even though my payments were up to date. I receive an email on the day that my insurance was cancelled. Which was pathetic and unprofessional way to handle such situations . Anyways, I rang them straightaway to find out the reason for cancelling my policy and after a thorough investigation, it confirmed that error was made by one of their employees who did not update their system. Which I was advised to wait between 24 and 48 hours for the policy to be reinstated.

I waited for 72 hours and no phone call was made therefore I decided to ring them again and ask them to explain why the delay in reinstating the policy and provide a valid reason for doing so. However, the unbelievable happened, this particular customer service team member disconnected the phone call; as she didn’t have any explanation to my questions; on why is it taking long to reinstate my policy and why was it cancelled in the first place without a thorough investigation? Adding to this, I even asked to speak to a manager but she went ahead and disconnected the call.

Not only am I frustrated but also very angry to the fact that I had to face a lot of inconveniences for the past few days in arranging taxis for my children school runs, especially when they attend different schools. I was also forced to catch a train to Leicester with husband and children, to visit my elderly mother in law who was hospitalised, including taxi rides to hospital from train station; all this occurred due to someone else’s mistake and yet do not want to own up to it which is the saddest part of it all!

Very unprofessional, no ethics and decency at all! There was no apologies at all, yet the employee had the decency to disconnect the phone call because she didn’t have answers to my questions.

Furthermore, according to another customer service team member the “system defaults itself if there was an error”. What a joke!

Nevertheless, my argument is; the system will not default itself unless they were not updated in the first place! It’s a simple logic!

Therefore, to my conclusion, so far this is the worst company to have insurance with, employees lack empathy and are not skilled enough, including the management teams. The whole company is sham! I wouldn’t even give one star but was required to enable carry on with my review. Definitely not worth it! Would definitely not recommend at all!

To all those whom have experienced this let’s all get together and name and shame this so called company.

horrendous company, missed payment which I had no notice of no email phone call or letter to say the direct debit had not gone through. Called up to ask a question about something today to find my policy had been cancelled on the 12th with no warning, I received other general letters in between this time from smart wheels but no warning of policy being cancelled. When speaking to someone I checked my Junk to find an email on there well actually several emails all on the same day the 15th to confirm cancellation not warning of cancellation to tell me they already had cancelled it. no other correspondence. I asked if I can make the payment as I wasn't aware of it not going through and they said no sorry its already cancelled... maybe I should have read reviews as this is not the first time (cancellation with no warning) by the sounds of it especially to young drivers they know who to target.. I am already in contact with the ombudsman they wont be getting away with this scam much longer.... 750 initial payment and monthly payments of 125 i think they have had enough money out of me I am not needed any more....

I was with more than over 30 years. I have had 1 claim for less than 300 4 years ago. Last year they doubled my premium to over 70 month. I only live in a 2 bed terrace, no kids decent area, not London or city centre. They reduced it to 52 but was still 15 more a month more. This year they wanted 73. Attitude of CC advisor on phone was terrible. They then asked me to do a text questionnaire but wanted to charge for every answer I sent. Gone with direct line. Better cover and 35 month.

Always been happy with the great service I have received and always do a price search when I get my renewal , and find them very competitive.
Good friendly customer service when I have had to contact them ,and highly recommend their quality service .

Have payed over £1000 in top up miles during my policy for them to cancel my insurance for exceeded mile usage (which I had intentions to pay for) when I phoned up to pay for the exceeded miles I was told that my insurance policy was cancelled and that the decision had been made by a higher power and there was nothing they could do! Lost my years no claims, my position as a driver in the company I work for and not to forget the 2 months insurance i had left on my policy. The inconvenience and stress this comapany has caused me is unbelievable... I wonder how much my insurance will be next year with a cancellation on my insurance record
