Attractive product at a reasonable rate that treated a self-invested pension plan as an asset not a liability

I was trying to remortgage on the basis of income from a SIPP. A number of the large lenders would not even consider my SIPP as an asset. Newbury Building Society offered a sensible and pragmatic approach to determining affordability, on the basis of projected drawdown income from my SIPP. The discussions were quick, simple and painless. An offer was made, accepted and executed. It's good to see a building society taking a common sense approach to this relatively new type of pension provision, as a basis to offer quality financial products. Reviewed on: 3rd April 2022

New mortgage

As a first time buyer, I am happy with the service provided. The only slight negative, was the wait between the valuation and the mortgage offer, but after this, I was in within 6 days! The welcome box that was delivered was a lovely additional extra! Reviewed on: 2nd April 2022

Personal touch from Newbury Building Society

Helpful, polite

Have had a very pleasant experience, the person who has dealt with mine and my sisters needs has been very helpful, very welcoming on our phone calls, provided the information that was needed to help us just all together a nice pleasant experience. Remortgaging

Very happy with the new rate that was agreed but the team took over a month to get it implemented meaning we have overpaid on our first month. Other than that, helpful & friendly. Reviewed on: 28th March 2022

Excellent from first to last, simple pragmatic solutions to any difficulties

The customer service from Newbury mortgage team has far surpassed anything I have experienced in the past, absolutely first rate. The initial interview was not overly intrusive, asked what was required and was not condescending (as experienced with other potential lenders.) I asked for two extensions to the offer which were granted without fuss and the minimum of paperwork. Similarly with a last minute hitch in clearing the existing mortgage this was handled with a co-operative, can-do attitude. I have felt I have been treated as a trusted customer and that the staff are not hide-bound by their own procedures. Mine was not a seamless mortgage application but was made straightforward because of the the positive attitude of Newbury Building Society and its staff Reviewed on: 25th March 2022
