Great staff living with 20th century systems and processes

The staff at NBS are friendly and helpful and provide a peep into the 1980s with passbook printers and manual processes. We paid off our NBS mortgage with funds from our NBS savings account and the process was first agree a date I would come into the branch, they would then send me a letter with the final balance dated for that day which I would then bring into the branch with me. The teller then takes that NBS letter and my NBS passbook and writes out a cheque from my NBS savings account made payable to NBS. She then takes a photocopy of the letter and attaches it to the cheque and puts them in the internal post. A process that we wouldn't have given much thought to in 1981, but in 2021?. The overall business process completes satisfactorily and all the staff are helpful and friendly, but at the end of the day this entire process could be automated, and even conducted self-service. New to Newbury

Mortgage Redemption

We decided to redeem a mortgage, being in the position to do so. After an initial phone discussion, I spoke with manager, Ella Bright. She talked through the options, explained how the process works and confirmed all in writing. Once we had decided to proceed, she ensured that the paperwork was received.
