Really friendly, helpful staff and also easy to add funds by internet as well.

I met staff of Newbury Building Society at Abingdon Air Show and liked the sound of the account which I subsequently opened in branch. The service I received in branch was very good and the whole process was very smooth. Since then I have used internet access which again is very user-friendly (I'm not computer-savvy, so need simple systems!). Reviewed on: 4th January 2018

A New High Interest Bond Account

I've had an existing members account for many years, and recently received an email telling me there was a new bond available for existing members only. The interest rate is exceptionally good. Opening the account was extremely straighforward, except I was slightly confused by the request for bank details even though I could only use money from the existing account and it seemed that the money would come from the bank account I'd just given. I had to go back the following day to work out how to transfer the money from my existing account. Apart from that easy stuff. Reviewed on: 19th May 2023

Reassigning existing accounts

Excellent quick and efficient service

Because I was not able to visit our local branch due to illness, my husband delivered my form for a new ISA. This was immediately dealt with and the very next day I received confirmation by post that the transaction had been done. Reviewed on: 14th May 2023

opening a new account online

I was surprised that as an existing customer I needed to provide a copy of my bank details for which you already had the details. As a consequence I had to make 2 trips to your Newbury branch when my first payment to that account was rejected and returned. Communication could have been better as to what documents were required. Great friendly service with a smile,

I opened 3 accounts yesterday in the basingstoke branch and they were brilliant i am with Santander at the moment but i am going to transfer everything to them as they are far better and you dont have to pay an arm and leg. Reviewed on: 12th May 2023

Efficient and speedy

I have not been a previous customer with Newbury but wished to open a Senior Saver account with them. These days, with money laundering/security regulations etc what was once a simple procedure is now highly complicated. Despite this, Richard navigated me through the procedure quickly and efficiently to a successful conclusion. My passbook arrived by post the very next day. I am very satisfied. A very pleasant and informative financial experience

I have passed the doors of Newbury Building Society many times over the 25 or so years I have lived in Newbury and never entered. Whilst reading the financial press in a nearby coffee shop, I was spurred into action to seek advice on a particular product I was interested in, a Children's ISA for our new grandchild. Of course, I could of looked a product up on line, but as I was near by the Newbury Building Society, I decided I would drop in and seek advice or at least some literature. As I entered the store, i was immediately greeted by Meredith, who listened intently to my initial request and then produced a simple piece of literature that covered the various savings products, it then became apparent that I could benefit from more than one of the savings products on offer, compared to that available from the other two banks I am with, particularly with regard to savings rates. I was then expertly passed over to a colleague of Meredith's, Rachel Hawkins who again took me through in detail the two products that seemed particularly suited to my requirements and I went ahead and set up the two accounts.
