I met staff of Newbury Building Society at Abingdon Air Show and liked the sound of the account which I subsequently opened in branch. The service I received in branch was very good and the whole process was very smooth. Since then I have used internet access which again is very user-friendly (I'm not computer-savvy, so need simple systems!). Reviewed on: 4th January 2018

Easy helpful process

Excellent personal service by staff at Wokingham. Always very friendly and treat me as a person and not just another customer. Was very thorough when going through the important details of the account. Made sure that I knew the finer details so I knew that the account was right for me. She even informed me of a future interest rate reduction, honest, and not willing to hide anything, so I could have changed my mind. Reviewed on: 3rd May 2021

Time consuming experience

I opened a new savings account and had to submit a copy of my passport for validation purposes, which I did within minutes of receiving their email. As I had not heard back from Newbury Building Society after a few days, I phoned them up to check on this. The person who answered my query was very pleasant but could not help me with my query. Opening a Home Saver Account took a long time.

The account was easy to apply for online as I was already a NBS customer. The account showed up immediately when I logged in but I didn’t receive a message from NBS to confirm I could pay into it as I was supposed to. I rang after several days to ask if I could pay money in and spoke to a very helpful man but when he checked for me he said not to pay in yet. It was several days later before I got the OK to pay money in. I’m surprised it took so long as I was an existing customer. Reviewed on: 30th April 2021

Transferring accounts

I explained what I would like to do. Transfer one account balance to a higher interest account and Tina talked me through it all completed the paperwork then sent it to me to check over and sign. I then had to send it along with my passbook to my branch. Apart from a phone call from Tina confirming some information all has gone through smoothly. Thank you Reviewed on: 30th April 2021

annual statement of interest for tax

It would be nice to receive an annual statement of interest for tax for my Newbury Building Society accounts . or even a letter saying the interest rate is going down. Reviewed on: 28th April 2021
