Premium Bonds are worth holding, I think.... Returns on Premium Bonds are generally average, with the slim chance of above average winnings each month. Winnings are not taxable which is a bonus. Reviewed on: 12th June 2025

40k in premium bonds for 5 months and only won £175. 40k in premium bonds for 5 months and only won £175. 3 months won nothing. Much better off in shares or high interest savings account. Reviewed on: 6th March 2025

Review of the NS&I, Premium Bond:

Tempted to say that this is a scam, not worth it

1
Bought NSI bonds in 1965. No wins and bonds remain nominal value. Each Bond is valued @ £1.00 therefore if I had £1 in 1965 it would be valued at £16.00 today (2020) I would be better off just keeping that pound in my pocket. NSI Bonds are not good financial instrument and should not be used as such. I think this is a scam as, there is a very high chance you will never see a return and end up with less value than when you started. As proven with my experience. Do not buy NSI bonds, stand more chance in winning a small amount on the lottery. Reviewed on: 2nd September 2020

Easy to use, safe, simple

Really easy to use, change your mind, simple to understand. Recommended. The newer premium bonds platform is so much easier than it ever used to be. In conjunction with other savings mechanisms, this is a really nice ability to diversify your chances of your return. Reviewed on: 31st July 2023

I look forward to the monthly draw and always hoping for a prize Reviewed on: 28th July 2023

Forever hopeful of a good win

I get regular wins, albeit fairly small, but always look forward to seeing results at the beginning of each month. I’m satisfied that my money is in safe hands and am encouraged to invest more to stand a better chance of winning a decent prize. Reviewed on: 21st July 2023

Refusing to release deceased mother's funds

1
Refusing to release my deceased mother's funds without Grant of Probate. No other institution I've dealt with has required probate. So my father who needs these funds to pay for residential care has the stress and expense of applying for probate. Legally they have a discretion whether to require probate and it is really mean requiring it here. Reviewed on: 14th July 2023

Do not give these criminals your cash

1
Their latest 'security' system is to ask you to answer 'security' questions that require that you are detail and character correct - so if you write eg Hull University instead of University of Hull or say use upper case on a instead of lower case it fails you. No simple errors. Then when you fail their 'security' checks they literally post you by surface mail a new password then invite you to do the same thing again. if you fail - another week for a new password. The system is clearly designed to prevent people from withdrawing money for as long as possible aka another ruse to allow the wealthy to aggregate the money of millions to invest for their own benefit whilst giving next to s*d all in return. Basically another state sanctioned form of corporate fraud. Reviewed on: 27th June 2023

Prompt automated notifications, with a well judged level of security that feels secure but isn't too time consuming or bothersome Reviewed on: 6th June 2023
