Dissatisfied

1
Changed my car to my husband's rang to change car and they hiked the price £140 more than my husband paid even though all details and cover were the same. Then had the cheek to charge me £55 cancellation. Disgusting. Reviewed on: 7th July 2017

Ridiculous charges

1
My first policy was £201 they ask for your driving licence and I said I had been driving for 20 years in actual fact I had been driving for 19 years 11 months so I got a charge which bumped the price up to £300 they then asked for my no claims discount proof so I sent it and an auto email said all received about a month later a letter came through from the third party finance company saying my policy had been adjusted and I know owe £795 slight jump from the initial £201 so I phoned them up and they stayed that I hadn't sent them my no claims discount even though I have the email to clarify I had sent it any way because of all the hassle and extra charges I said I won't to cancel the policy as they where just stealing my money on the paper work it states cancelling your policy would run another charge of £65 but when my cancellation fee came through it was £192 absolutely disgusting so I have now cancelled my insurance and also my breakdown cover because of the thieves Reviewed on: 21st June 2017

Rip-off price for renewal of insurance policy

1
I took out car insurance with the RAC a few years ago after another company hiked up the price by 40%. The RAC hiked up the price by 47% this year (same car as before). I looked on Moneysupermarket and found that if I took out a new policy with the RAC, the price would be 40% cheaper than the quote I received for renewal. Nobody at the RAC could explain this, and when I tried to speak to a manager, I was told they wouldn't discuss this with me. I have not made any claims on the policy, have a clean driving licence and have been driving for over 40 years. Clearly the RAC have no respect for their customers and think they will gain from inertia. It's time someone stopped this terrible business practice. Reviewed on: 9th June 2017

Shocking thieves

1
After one month with these cowboys I have cancelled my insurance. Firstly they asked for my driving licence on the form I put 20 years driving experience however it was on 19 years 11 months experience this then cost me £65. Then they asked for proof of my no claims bonus sent via email and received a thank you email from them so all well and good until I received an email from the finance company stating my monthly payments will now be £61 per month and not £21 per month. This was because the no claims bonus was supposedly the wrong form utter rubbish as my current insurer stated that it could be used for my no claims bonus. See to stop this I have now cancelled my insurance for a further cost of £75 THIEVES THE LOT OF THEM STAY AWAY. Reviewed on: 16th May 2017

Chaotic organisation

1
The worst insurance company I have ever dealt with, different story with each person I spoke to. Tried to insure 3 cars, put all the details in and was advised to go to multi-car to save money. The agent deleted the current quotes and made me go through all the info again and ended up with roughly double the price from an hour previously. Reviewed on: 3rd April 2017

Horrendous customer experience

1
I chose to insure my car through rac they weren't the cheapest but having such a good repuatation I decided to go with them, they asked me for proof of my 2 years no claims discount via email (no phone calls or letters at all) so I could only provide 1 year after the insurer (Churchill who were very helpful and I shouldn't of left) gave me my proof no problem the company before however I couldn't get in touch with to prove the other year. So I accepted that my premium would probably go up with rac as I couldn't prove the other year I found this totally reasonable. Rac however cancelled my policy told me they were no longer able to insure me, refused to give me my £81 deposit back due to the fact they had already insured me for a month (although my insurance was only £60 a month) but I decided to accept that. What I was not willing to accept is they wanted £122 for 'services' and a £55 cancellation fee even though it was them who decided they no longer wanted to insure me. I am a very reasonable person with that I asked if they could reinstate my policy with a higher premium to allow for the no proof of no claims again they said no, the only option to them was for my to pay my 'fees' then get a brand new policy from them in which I would've had to pay my deposit again in full. Why they think anyone would do this is beyond me as it means I would've of paid them over £200 in the space of a month for basically nothing! Technicalities aside they have been awful, so unhelpful they manager I spoke to did nothing but keep repeating himself saying 'it's not our fault' that to them is obviously a reasonable way of dealing with their customers, without which they would have no business. I would never give rac another penny of my money this was such a minor issue that we could of resolved between us but unfortunately I am now currently in the process of speaking to trading standards and claiming money back for my lengthy phone call where I achieved nothing. Myself and my whole family have cancelled our breakdown cover with them and I am working with my bank to ensure these obscene charges cannot be taken. I myself work for a huge company (a very well known one) and if we ran our business this way I would expect to not have one left. Customer service goes a very long way and greed is unfortunately going to cost this company. If they can afford to lose customers this way good luck to them! Reviewed on: 20th March 2017

RAC - Customer Service is shocking

1
My husbands car has been insured with RAC for last 2 yrs and we were happy enough until he was involved in a serious accident 2 weeks ago when a delivery van smashed into him when he was stationery (police attended the accident). When we contacted RAC they told us they don't deal with the car claim and WE would have to contact the underwriters of the policy, they also told us someone from their legal dept would contact us within a few days regarding a claim for personal injuries etc (this is all they do deal with when you are involved in an accident) but two weeks on no one has been in touch. Looks like its left to us to chase them up for info! Will never use them again for insurance. Their customer service is the worst i have ever experienced! Reviewed on: 22nd January 2017

RIPPED off!

Just received an email that for a missed payment due to other payments taken from my account I will be charged a hefty £25,and my insurance for a month is £29.Are you kidding me? A RIPP OFF COMPANY, which sadly won't realise until you already signed with them. Doing a research apparently a change of address would cost you the same and to cancel fee is at least £55.Right now I would love to speak to Mark Godfrey the Head of the insurance! AND I SHOULD SHARE HOW GREAT YOU BREAKDOWN COVER IS Too since I had to stay behind the wheels at - 3 Celsius with the window open behind a recovery van and a piece of metal, didn't you hear of platform, not to mention my car is automatic. To summarise I DON'T RECOMMEND RAC AND YOU SHOULD BE AWARE IF THINKING OF BUYING INSURANCE FROM THEM AND READ THE SMALL PRINT! Reviewed on: 7th January 2017
