refuse to help

When you don't have a problem the bank is absolutely fine. However, when I asked them to reduced my overdraft because I no longer need it they have refused time and time again. I still have an overdraft because they won't reduce it. Also when we needed some documents certified by them for our mortgage they refused because our mortgage is from a different provider. I am in the process of looking for a different bank. Reviewed on: 11th February 2018

Ok but planning on moving

Every time I go into the local branch the staff are always welcoming and friendly but the bank accounts themselves aren't designed to keep customers. Having been with RBS all my life (approx 25 years) I'm just getting ready to leave, the reasons for this: £6 charge every time I go overdrawn by a few pence (with an arranged overdraft!) Poor linked savings accounts No interest at all applied to basic current accounts. Its a shame, as the local branch is very convenient with staff that can't do enough for you but they are limited to what they can do when the products on offer are so poor. Not remotely interested in customer needs. Driven by profit and greed.

RBS have closed our branch, the main branch in the next village and even taken away their cash machines. As we have no post office, I can only withdraw money from 'cashback'. It's a disgrace...our local shops run out of cash because no-one has access to a cash machine...so they limit the cashback facility to £20. How they are able to legally inflict this on rural customers is beyond belief. Reviewed on: 9th January 2018

RBS not as bad as many make out

Banked with RBS for 20 years, had no problems with them, professional, polite, good customer service. Informative when asked questions with regards to saving accounts and ISAs. Branches are in convenient locations for me, with parking which is a big plus. I had problems with my credit card (wrong pin inserted at the cash machine), their fraud department rang me straight away to ask if i had my card with me, asking if it had been stolen, lost etc. Impressive. Moving further away than ever

Our branch is already not able to provide all the services of larger banks and is now scheduled to close. While our current account fulfills many of our needs, not being able to have that personal touch is a loss for us. Reviewed on: 1st January 2018
