About this product

The RBS Select current account is a basic account for everyday banking.

Account holders can access RBS’ mobile banking app which has a range of money management features and built-in credit score checker. The Select account is compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay and has the option for an arranged overdraft.

New service information being posted to current customers

I have had a few letters from the RBS in the run up to Christmas advertising new services they have for offers such as cash back on your monthly bills. I like being offered and informed about some of the services and options available but some of them did not really suit me or my buying and savings habits. I may make a change to one of the payed accounts in the future and use the 3% rewards on household bills they told me about in one of the letters. This will more than cover the cost of the new account and costs. It would be good for me if there was some way of giving them basic information about my buying and savings habits even if not the details online so that I don't get all the junk mail for offers what will never be any use to me. Good app makes life a little easier

I feel quite indifferent about my bank but I do love my banking app on my phone which makes transfers between my accounts quick and straightforward and checking balances very easy, no more worrying about having insufficient funds! Everything I need and nice and simple

Adequate but never satisying

I use a variety of branches of my bank. I have only had a good experience in one. My two closest branches are the most disappointing. I have been given false information, refused a receipt, abused for asking for a receipt, perpetually lectured about online banking which I don't want and attended a hilarious mortgage meeting where they could give me no information at all "because rates could change" even though I looked up the info on their website. I did learn that their ex-husband refuses to pay maintenance and that their son sits around in their pants playing computer games. More Jeremy Kyle than the Help to Buy meeting I requested. Decent people in the Bank branch, unsatisfactory account handling

Although I always have pleasant contact with people who work at the Bank branch of RBS, I'm not satisfied with the overdraft fees and charges. They are extortionate and although I signed up for warnings, I only occasionally seem to get them. Reviewed on: 12th February 2016

Top notch service

I love my bank (RBS) because it's the only bank I've had that I don't have to queue for 3 hours, the cashiers recognise you, you can ring your local branch and speak to someone there, and the manager always pops out to speak to people waiting in the queue. Reviewed on: 11th February 2016

Never let us down.

I have had a joint current account with RBS for over 30 years and throughout that time we have never had any problems. In fact they let us open 2 current accounts so my bills could be controlled separately from my day-to-day living expenses. When I needed to open another account to put money into trust, as instructed to do so in a will, they were the only bank that were interested in letting me do it!
