About this product

The RBS Select current account is a basic account for everyday banking.

Account holders can access RBS’ mobile banking app which has a range of money management features and built-in credit score checker. The Select account is compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay and has the option for an arranged overdraft.

I have had a few letters from the RBS in the run up to Christmas advertising new services they have for offers such as cash back on your monthly bills. I like being offered and informed about some of the services and options available but some of them did not really suit me or my buying and savings habits. I may make a change to one of the payed accounts in the future and use the 3% rewards on household bills they told me about in one of the letters. This will more than cover the cost of the new account and costs. It would be good for me if there was some way of giving them basic information about my buying and savings habits even if not the details online so that I don't get all the junk mail for offers what will never be any use to me. Basic account, no frills but no cost. Not sure if it is better to stick with this or try one of the many fancy, monthly cost, accounts that apparently give all sorts of benefits/rewards.

Looking at Reward accounts with RBS. Sceptical. Do I need it, will I be better off, or will the bank be better off. They tell me I will be so I should trust that a reputable bank wouldn't lie? Reviewed on: 4th May 2016

Leaving the bank

I found my branch of RBS not so customer friendly . Always seemed to be young assistants with the impression they were not interested in the customers. Get the transaction done and move on. So i did and left Reviewed on: 28th March 2016
