Review of the Saga, Car Insurance:

Will never use SAGA again

1
Had an "incident" where a driver ran a red light, cutting across me, and I slammed into her at about 40mph. My VW Polo worked brilliantly - crumple zone, airbags etc, but I got out alive. The car is a write off. Other person admitted liability, and in fairness kept that stance with her insurance company - Admiral. This happened on a Saturday at 11.00am, and by 5.00pm I had contacted SAGA, and gave all the details and was given the email address to send the photos and dashcam video to SAGA. Did this - and since (It is now Thurdsay pm) then SAGA, have not contacted me at all, despite me phoning up every day. Today I was told that SAGA are only the brokers, and that I should contact Ageas, the underwriters !! I was also told that Ageas would ring me back - never happened. The company that has come out of this well, is Admiral. They contacted me (having got my details from their client), and told me that SAGA had not forwarded any details or photos or my dashcam footage, but that their client admitted full fault, and that i could ask SAGA to close the claim, which would lead to a faster resolution, and less cost to both companies. Today I have tried to get SAGA to close the claim, but getting a sensible response is hopeless. I was in the lucky position of being able to go out and buy another car - the loan / courtesy car that I was entitled to on my policy, never materialised. As, I said previously not a single person from SAGA has contacted me. Disgraceful service - I'm in my 70's and SAGA at one time their unique selling point was that they were a company for the over 50's - I think that USP is now out of the window - they are like any other company - do not appreciate customers - let alone loyalty. I will never use any SAGA product again. Reviewed on: 6th March 2025

Horrendous Company, Stay Well Clear

1
Unfortunately this system doesn't allow you to give no stars as Saga's customer service is absolutely shameful and useless. Having spent an hour on the phone and being told there is no Manager in, they admit they work from home. This folks is why they don't answer your calls as they are working on the cheap whilst rinsing the older generation on renewals. STAY AWAY Reviewed on: 14th January 2024

We were on a 3 year fixed rate, when it was due to be renewed they wanted to put it up by approximately 6 x what we were paying with 18 years no claims and no change of address Reviewed on: 7th January 2024

Appalling customer service!

1
Been waiting for my car insurance renewal documentation ( on 3 year fixed). Have been chasing them and contacted online again today as only 15 days away. Told with underwriters and nothing they can do. Explained going away on holiday and need to get it sorted. Told nothing they can do. Asked to submit a complaint - told manager would contact me within 24 hours by email but he won’t be able to do anything. Worst customer service experienced by any company ever !!!!!! Renewal of house insurance.

1
WHAT A RIP OFF. My 92 year old dads house insurance is up for renewal. He was on a 3 year plan. His insurance has gone up from £240 to £361. I don’t pay anywhere near that for my 5 bed house in Chester. They also think they are doing him a big favour by giving it to him fixed rate for 3 years. Hes never made a claim in his life. They know that most elderly folks will just renew because they can’t be bothered to shop around. I though they were here for the elderly not ripping them off. Buyers beware, shop around. I'm really impressed.

I have 3 cars and I always shop around for insurance. Saga is very competitive and the service is excellent. If they're in the ballpark on price, I'd choose them because the service is so good. Reviewed on: 27th September 2023

Why Am I Waiting On The Phone

1
Used Saga for a number of years with no problems. The price was good and the customer service ok for this day and age. However, my car insurance is coming up for renewal and it’s increased from £450 to £726. What’s worse is that it’s on one of these three year auto renewals and given the price I don’t want an auto renewal without talking to someone. Been trying to get through for the third time, each time it’s been over 25 mins. This time been waiting on the phone for 38 minutes so far. Can this really be called Customer Service. I think not, more like trying to deliberately ignore your long standing customers. It a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Reviewed on: 13th September 2023

No Saga best price and cover!

Got a 3 yr deal on my Car Insurance same price for 3 years. No increases in premium or costs. Will be sad when the 3 years end. Reviewed on: 8th September 2023
