We had been happy with Saga landlord insurance and had never presented a claim. Price hikes for 2024 were exporbitant and unreasonable, in our opinion. We have switched to another reliable provider and that is costing 100 pounds less. Reviewed on: 26th February 2024

Rip off price hikes for loyal customers!

After being a loyal customer for over a decade with home and car insurance, this year I’m completely disgusted by the way they have hiked up their cost from £140 to £324! When speaking to an agent he said that the underwriters thought that this was due to some risks ie; area, claims. I’ve had no claims and everything is the same as before. They advised me to increase the amount to pay out for any claims from £100 to £700, that’s just nuts! Went online and insurance is coming up at £170 for the exact same policy that I had with Saga. Phoned to cancel and the woman was really snooty and tried to speak down to me. I’ll definitely be changing companies when my car insurance renewal comes up. The wait to speak to someone is shocking too, it said 15 minutes and had to wait for 30 minutes. This company has changed for the worse. Reviewed on: 20th January 2024

Parents are both in their 80's.

Parents are both in their 80's. They reported Home Emergency Call out regarding a cracked pipe this morning. It is now 16:24 and they still await a call back. Saga said they would call back within 2-hours which they didn't. When my parents rang to chase the call back they were told someone would look into it and TRY to call them back by 16:30. Massive 45% hike in Premiums - what a RIP off

We took out Saga home insurance in 2022. Both my husband and I are between 50 and 60 and work. We live in a nice area of Hertfordshire and have not claimed in 30 years. Our renewal came last year and the premium had gone up 45%. I called to query it, bearing in mind that inflation had got to 15% during 2023 and was told the price reflected the fact were were in a high crime area !! We went else where. We had also put my 93 year old mother-in-law with Saga at the start of 2023 because they looked competitive. And her renewal arrived last week with the premium almost 50% more. She has never claimed. She doesnt go on holidays so the house is never left alone. What a rip-off. We moved her to More Than for half the price and better cover. Reviewed on: 18th January 2024

Frustrating

They made you waiting hours, with music. The claims does not want to give what the write in the contract. Imposible to get in coctat with the company. Always making mistakes. I will never make any insurence with them. Naither trips. They ignore you. Reviewed on: 6th December 2023

Awful customer service

tried 9 times to cancel my fathers home insurance due to the huge increase in premium, could never get through. They sent a letter saying they couldnt take premium due to outdated bank details then took it anyway!! as the bank allowed them to do so. Kept trying to contact them still couldnt get through so raised a complaint and it has currently taken nearly 2 months to get anywhere close to getting a refund and now they are demanding further details. They use confusing and bullying systems and there is no way my father, who has dementia, would be able to negotiate his way through them. Utter disgrace Reviewed on: 16th November 2023

Absolutely rubbish when making a claim

Absolutely rubbish when making a claim. I phoned 3rd October 23, to make a claim about a leak as I had the accidental cover, a plumber came round and said he will order the parts and fix it the following week. Almost 4 weeks have gone by and many calls later to complain about the service and no fix. They sent a plumber in 26/10/23 and "stated its a new job and not authorised to fix it! What is going on with Saga!! need help please- totally rubbish service for the over 50's!! Reviewed on: 26th October 2023

Unjustified increase in premium

Renewal premium more than double. Rang and said I have just one question. The call handler clearly knew what I was about to say. Could not give me and reasonable answer about such a massive increase. Found it cheaper elsewhere BUT the real joke was that they used the same insurer as Saga! This was for landlord insurance and early this year Saga did the same with my car renewal! Day three of Home Emergency and still not fixed.

My kitchen sink was blocked and I phoned Saga Home Emergency. I got through to the number listed but was then put on hold for ages to report problem. Within six hours a plumber arrived, but despite working on the sink for 3 hours, he could not resolve the problem. Day 2: hearing nothing from Saga, phoned, 45 mns wait to speak to someone. They said they would send plumber back and asked me to hold on whilst they checked something. Call cut off. I phoned back three hours later: 54 mns on hold. Told earlier call not logged. Then that as original plumber had sought extra payment, and had not quoted for follow up they had to wait for that to be done. I made a formal complaint. Day 3: Nothing until 4 p.m. when I got a text telling me my case had been resolved. Now on hold trying to speak to an actual person. Result: Stress and frustration. If SAGA cannot perform this basic emergency service, why are they offering it? Reviewed on: 25th October 2023
