Saga by name, Saga by nature.

Saga by name, Saga by nature. If I could give Saga 0 stars, I would. My buildings and car insurance renewal quotes have been absolutely extortionate - the latter being double the previous year, and significantly more than double the nearest quote on a comparison website. In terms of customer service, waiting times to get through by phone are outrageous - on one occasion alone I spent more than an hour only on hold. Having spoken to a customer services advisor about my motor insurance quote, and not receiving a competitive offer, I said I would cancel the policy online. Rather than telling me that was impossible, she let me ring off. Guess what - no means of cancelling online, and the website is not fully functioning, and so I am sitting again on hold, frittering away another hour of my life that I'll never get back, and listening to the repeated message reminding callers to have respect. Frankly, at my age, every hour counts, and, if you are a pensioner - as is Saga's demographic - trust me, you can't afford to insure with them. And life's too short. Reviewed on: 15th August 2024

Very poor customer service and communication.

A simple information request has so far taken 14 days during which time the same information, already provided, has been repeatedly requested by them. Obviously the emails we have sent to them are not being read even though they are responding to them. If you ring customer service you are told the wait time is about 15 minutes but I have waited over 30 minutes on three occasions without receiving a reply. Whilst waiting you are told their staff are ‘very busy’ and ‘hardworking’ which I think is usually called ‘having a job’. You are also requested to treat staff with respect which is quite insulting as a) I always treat people with respect and they have no right to assume otherwise b) no one answers anyway and c) possibly the reason some people are rude to their staff is the company’s fault as people are frustrated by the amount of time they have to wait. Still haven't sorted my mums kitchen and frontroom out after a busted pipe destroyed the place , they sent a team out that did all the wall papering and painting wrong, we are not 2.5 years in and nothing has happened , we're still waiting for this to be rectified. HUGE increase in premium after 3years.

Saga gave a reasonable quote and provided 3years cover with no price increase. BUT after the 3 years they DOUBLED the premium. We had made no claims, and had no changes of circumstances. I was able to reinsure elsewhere for roughly the same cost as the original Saga premium, with equivalent cover. This has destroyed my faith in Saga as a brand. Reviewed on: 27th April 2024

We had been happy with Saga landlord insurance and had never presented a claim. Price hikes for 2024 were exporbitant and unreasonable, in our opinion. We have switched to another reliable provider and that is costing 100 pounds less. Reviewed on: 26th February 2024

Rip off price hikes for loyal customers!

After being a loyal customer for over a decade with home and car insurance, this year I’m completely disgusted by the way they have hiked up their cost from £140 to £324! When speaking to an agent he said that the underwriters thought that this was due to some risks ie; area, claims. I’ve had no claims and everything is the same as before. They advised me to increase the amount to pay out for any claims from £100 to £700, that’s just nuts! Went online and insurance is coming up at £170 for the exact same policy that I had with Saga. Phoned to cancel and the woman was really snooty and tried to speak down to me. I’ll definitely be changing companies when my car insurance renewal comes up. The wait to speak to someone is shocking too, it said 15 minutes and had to wait for 30 minutes. This company has changed for the worse. Reviewed on: 20th January 2024

Parents are both in their 80's.

Parents are both in their 80's. They reported Home Emergency Call out regarding a cracked pipe this morning. It is now 16:24 and they still await a call back. Saga said they would call back within 2-hours which they didn't. When my parents rang to chase the call back they were told someone would look into it and TRY to call them back by 16:30.
