Go elsewhere - not a credit to the Sainsbury brand. Whilst their pricing is competitive, they seem to have almost no one available to answer simple queries. I had an issue confirming NCB's with them and... Read more Reviewed on: 3rd December 2024

Charged for cancelled policy

1
As the cost of the car insurance had nearly doubled this year we rang Sainsburys bank to refuse renewal of the policy. We took out a policy with another company. A couple of days after the start of the policy we received a letter from Sainsburys thanking us for renewing with them. It turned out that they had charged over £400 to our credit card despite us cancelling. Although they have agreed to return the money we will have it on our credit card bill this month and it will only be refunded in the next months bill. Fortunately we can cover the bill but we are not impressed. Reviewed on: 11th May 2023

If you think about getting Sainsbury car insurance - think twice, or more times

1
I got a decent quote a year ago on line through a compare website, but trying to get a small change was quite impossible. Telephoning was forever and I gave up trying. I stuck with the insurance as it was until my renewal came up quite a bit more expensive, so I decided io cancel. The ONLY way to do it is to telephone them. There were a variety of numbers to try, and every one came up with the same nausious woman relating all the options and how sorry she was I was kept waiting. I spent three hours on the phone before finally getting a PERSON. Never again. Reviewed on: 27th March 2023

Awful customer service awful service

1
Customer service are rude and argue back giving me her feelings is not what a customer is paying for or needs to hear !!! Calling someone petty is down right out of order increase of insurance was a clear rip off when it’s lower through the comparison site with them !!! And then the cancellation fee another rip off and being told they are the cheapest for cancellation fee is a downright lie never ever will I recommend or have anything to do with Sainsbury car insurance again Reviewed on: 17th March 2023

Two lots of car insurance

1
This company have been taking two lots of car insurance for a full year they said they would pay me back for one lot but still waiting 6 weeks later if it was the other way round they would not put up with it . Reviewed on: 16th March 2023

Sainsburys should stick to groceries. Car related issues are not dealt with well at all!

1
i honestly do not know where to start. since the moment i reported the accident to the company, i have been distressed with the poor service i have received. miscommunication and omission of vital information. i am now over two weeks after the accident has occurred and my damaged car has still not been taken in for repair and i have not been given a replacement car as per the policy. everyone i have spoken to at the company have held their hands up telling me its not their problem and then i asked to speak to the manager and was passed over to a 'team leader' called Drew. he said he will call me back. that was two days ago. today i went to pick up the car and then informed it was a manual. i last drove one 20 years ago so for the sake of safety i have asked everyone i have spoken to over the duration of 17 days that i would require an automatic car. once i arrived to collect the car, they told me i have to pay extra per day for that - which will total an extra £200 on top of the £500 excess. No wonder Sainsburys Car Insurance was the cheapest - no experience or resources to deal with car accidents in a kind or timely fashion. i will be escalating this. Reviewed on: 16th March 2023

Ripping off people

1
If had read all these reviews before I subscribed, I would stay clear from this so called car insurance. Unlike most people, I thankfully didn't had to make a claim or update something. My issue I had is more pathetic than that...when I bought my insurance, I was promised 4000 nectar points so I thought why not...I filled up everything and entered my nectar card number as requested. Then nothing...I called them to enquire and they said to wait 60 days which I did...3 months after, no points, I called again and a guy told me he will request these points for me...waited but still no points after 2 months of waiting. Called again 3 weeks ago and spoke to a rude lady who was shouting like a fishmonger to tell I didn't qualify for this points as I didn't enter a promotional code (it goes without saying that no promo code was shown on check out...it was a lie) but she did say she will call me back to resolve the matter....of course she never did. I called again today and the same excuses have been brought up again this time blaming Money Supermarket for the issue but no way they were going to issue the points. I was fuming, wasted my time and my money! They cannot be trusted if they can't fulfill their promises for few points how can you trust them for car incident claim!!! This is coming from Sainsbury's group, I would stay well away from them...in all honesty I am not going to shop in their supermarket anymore either as I am disgusted by their behaviour....Liars and pathetic, that is what they are!!! Reviewed on: 15th March 2023

Worst service

1
The price was very low so I should have expected problems. The day before it was due to go live they wrote saying that they couldn’t accept the no claims from previous insurer. If you want to phone them it costs £25 and if you want to cancel it costs £25. Tye app/website is awful. Don’t use them. Reviewed on: 6th March 2023
