Simple with no monthly charges

I have two identical accounts, one used for my business incomings and outgoings as there's no monthly charge. Agreed overdraft charges are £30 per month, so best avoid having one if you can, as it's pretty extortionate. Generally on a day to day basis, I experience no problems and can communicate if need be online with secure email. Banking app for iPad Is good too. Reviewed on: 24th December 2016

Bank Charges applied on Current Account

Disputed with the Alliance and Leicester when i had a current account with them, (part of what is now under the Santander Umbrella) Despite never going over drawn by more than £20 I was charged £25 Standing fee for being overdrawn by about £20 for around 3 days, I stated and complained with the Bank that I made a simple mistake and as soon as i was aware of I placed money to get my account back in to the black. I received the response that they were not willing to pay back the charge and I would need to increase my overdraft to minimize the interest charges. This was before Mobile Banking really took off, circa 2006. Needless to say it was not long after that i closed down my account with them and transferred to another Competitor.. The Santander bank is excellent for easy and hassle free online banking!

I have been with Santander for my personal banking for 22 years. Their online banking is easy to use and hassle free. They have linked my saver account online to my everyday current account so that when I login I am able to access both accounts. The Santander website is very reliable and I have not experienced it going down. They are well worth considering for hassle free banking. Reviewed on: 21st June 2016
