Review of the Santander, Mortgage:

Worst Company Ever! Avoid if you are a first time buyer

My Partner and myself recently applied to Santander for a new mortgage on the help to buy scheme for new build properties. They gave us a promise that their is no problems whatsoever and we can proceed to find a new build property. after we have found the new-build, our dream house that ticketed all the boxes, we proceeded to complete the mortgage application. After an initial yes, and got all the other paperwork and solicitors and everything else in order, paid for the survey and all these things, they suddenly withdrawn the mortgage. just like that! It was not a affordability issue or a credit issue. after a lot of fighting with them we eventually find out that the underwrites had the wrong address history and they could not find us on the credit file and then declined it on that basis. The address was correctly given on the application paperwork. it is clear that someone in administration has made an error and typed 54 in stead of 45. Stander will not review or accept the appeal. "they sympathise with our situation and can clearly see that it was a innocent clerical error however we can not appeal the decision. Our decision is final and it is because of the incorrect address history" Even though it was their error, they refuse to take another look at his application. We also are not getting any money back. WE have lost £1000's in fees both with the solicitors and the builders that we are not getting back, and we have lost our house because the builders does not want to wait for a new mortgage application being done with a new lender. Because the computer is saying "no" because the computer was given inaccurate information Santander says NO. Even-though they have acknowledge that there was an error, they still say no. Never in my Life have I dealt with an company that was so in-human and bullying as Santander. I am at a loss for words to the this. If you are a first time buyer, please avoid like the plague, they will cost you a lot of money that you may not have and will take you years to save up again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

We have been loyal Santander mortgage customers for 10 years and came to move and port our fixed rate mortgage to our new house, only to have Santander tell us after 8 weeks of providing them with various documents etc, and at the point of needing to exchange contracts, that they wouldn't in fact port the mortgage and we'd have to pay them a £14,000 penalty or find a different house to move to. Absolutely disgusting treatment. Don't consider them at all. We have since gone to Barclays who have issued a Mortgage Offer on our new house at a better rate than Santander in SIX WORKING DAYS! No option of payment holidays or defer payments while crono virus crisis

I got Santander mortgage for number years never bothered to change it but now the bad time is here because of Crono virus . I requested for payment holidays or defer the payments but they refused to give any payment holidays . I Will never choose Santander mortgage or any other Santander product again . I found them to be very easy and straightforward would use them again and would recomend to others

Best Mortgage Ever

Underwriting process is terrible when they have to pay to broker

I wouldn't suggest any one to go with this bank for first time buyers. You will found yourself in a hell and on the top if you applied through broker, these people will put you in a terrible situation where you will be ending up with nothing but just losing credit history and time. So i will suggest you not to use this bank especially if you are a first time buyer. Reviewed on: 4th November 2019

mortgage with Santander

application starting on the 2nd of October,still waiting for approval, they seem to be behind witch I feel it's not professional.i do not recommend using them for a mortgage. Reviewed on: 31st October 2019

Save money pay off mortgage early

I have a mortgage with Santander which has the pay off early option. But the fee to pay off early is currently £667 ! The mirtgage is almost finished now. But i cannot pay it off without paying this hefty bill. Reviewed on: 24th July 2019
