Review of the Santander, Mortgage:

Worst Company Ever! Avoid if you are a first time buyer

My Partner and myself recently applied to Santander for a new mortgage on the help to buy scheme for new build properties. They gave us a promise that their is no problems whatsoever and we can proceed to find a new build property. after we have found the new-build, our dream house that ticketed all the boxes, we proceeded to complete the mortgage application. After an initial yes, and got all the other paperwork and solicitors and everything else in order, paid for the survey and all these things, they suddenly withdrawn the mortgage. just like that! It was not a affordability issue or a credit issue. after a lot of fighting with them we eventually find out that the underwrites had the wrong address history and they could not find us on the credit file and then declined it on that basis. The address was correctly given on the application paperwork. it is clear that someone in administration has made an error and typed 54 in stead of 45. Stander will not review or accept the appeal. "they sympathise with our situation and can clearly see that it was a innocent clerical error however we can not appeal the decision. Our decision is final and it is because of the incorrect address history" Even though it was their error, they refuse to take another look at his application. We also are not getting any money back. WE have lost £1000's in fees both with the solicitors and the builders that we are not getting back, and we have lost our house because the builders does not want to wait for a new mortgage application being done with a new lender. Because the computer is saying "no" because the computer was given inaccurate information Santander says NO. Even-though they have acknowledge that there was an error, they still say no. Never in my Life have I dealt with an company that was so in-human and bullying as Santander. I am at a loss for words to the this. If you are a first time buyer, please avoid like the plague, they will cost you a lot of money that you may not have and will take you years to save up again. Avoid!!!

Their rates are now 6.8%!!! I tried to renew a few weeks back on 3.7% but due to their systems being down I wasn’t able to. Now I am being told I have no option but to renew on 6.8% due to my situation which means I have to sell my home! They lie. And they just so happen to loose the recording proving I tried to renew on 3.7%. They are crooks! Reviewed on: 10th October 2022

A true disgrace

The lawyer Integrar they use is a total disgrace and make Santander mortgages impossible. There is no way i shall use them again. Stay well away if you want a mortgage processed in anything less than 3 months Reviewed on: 15th September 2022

Mortgage review

Don’t try applying for a mortgage with this company. Despite having banked with them for 5 years, they still refused to accept evidence of my address. Completely useless. Reviewed on: 14th August 2022

Short mortgage offer and product fee not refunded

Santander only offered 5 months mortgage (so no good when buying a new build). Better interest rate shopping elsewhere (E.g. Halifax) as offer expired and do not refund on £999 "product fee" - Beware! Reviewed on: 22nd July 2022

My Santander creditcard is blocked

My Santander creditcard was block 8-days ago. I went to the branch to show my passport and proof of income the next day. I was told the card will be unblocked within 48-hours. I have been calling their customer services twice a day for over a week. It takes 30-60 minutes wait time plus 30 minutes if the call is transferred to another department. The calls were also disconnected many times. Every time I call, the customer services said sit back and keep an eye on your mobile and wait for a call back for their security team. Santander creditcard department is one of the worst to help customers. I have applied for another creditcard today. Please don't waste time with Santander. Reviewed on: 27th April 2022

Time wasters

My entire mortgage experience with Santander was awful... Took them 9 weeks to get my mortgage application done, very poor communication and openly discriminated against maternity leave. It was shocked at how bad the entire service was. I have never had this to deal with for past mortgages I have had, I would not recommend at all Reviewed on: 21st April 2022

Rubbish

Had a mortgage with Santander for years, no problems. Went to get another one when buying another property and got strung along for 8 weeks after getting a MIP while asking for bits of information then got rejected on the stupidest of reasons. Consulted a mortgage broker and he said they are awful to deal with and is now securing me with another mortgage. The sellers of the property we are buying are now understandably anxious as we are at the bottom of a chain. All in all I'd avoid like the plague. Reviewed on: 14th April 2022

SLAS that they simply cant meet!

Renegotiated on cost of property, sent back to Santander for amendment over 2 weeks ago (which was supposed to take at most 5 working days) now risk losing our propeety because of their delays. Sort out your SLAS Santander as this is peoples lives you are ruining here! AvOID if you can! Reviewed on: 7th April 2022
