Review of the Scottish Building Society, Mortgages:

Free legals cost £1200!

SBS offered mortgages to older people so we were interested. We asked for less than 40% LTV. They asked for an exhausting amount of extra financial info, including about two other investment houses we own. Once started, SBS were surprised to learn that we lived in England despite having had that info for months. As a result they changed the free legals to a £250 contribution to our English legals, which were £650. Once in process they insisted on a further legal form which had to be administered by a lawyer, costing a further £600. Mortgage completed 5 months after initiation at a net legal cost of £1000. Easy process with good customer service

We found the process to be very smooth and without complication. All paperwork sent was easily understandable and well put together. I have had to call SBS a couple of times to ask questions and I have always found the customer service to be friendly and helpful. Reviewed on: 5th August 2022

SPEEDY EFFICIENT SERVICE

WE FOUND THE SERVICE EXCELLENT CONSIDERING WE ARE 450 MILES AWAY AND EVERYTHING WAS DEALT WITH ELECTRONICALLY. THE WHOLE APPLICATION PROCESS VIA OUR BROKER SEEMED SMOOTH AND EFFICIENT . CLOSER TO COMPLETION WE HAD SOME DIRECT COMMUNICATION WITH THE SOCIETY AND I KNOW OUR SOLICITOR WAS VERY PLEASED AND CONFIDENT FROM DEALING WITH THE SCOTTISH BUILDING SOCIETY IN THE PAST THAT MONIES WOULD ARRIVE WHEN CALLED FOR.
