You don't have to live in Scotland to open an account

Contrary to another poster's review, I live in England and I was able to open a savings account with Scottish Building Society in January 2021. I did ask the Society if not living in Scotland was an issue, and I was told no. Despite growing up and having all my education in Scotland (1949-1965) I had never heard of the Society, believing building societies to be an English thing . The long-established Society must be Scotland's best-kept secret! Reviewed on: 29th April 2021

Great service and consistently good interest rates

Been a member of the Scottish for many years, had mortgages and savings with them. Other lenders didn't want me as I am self employed. Interest rates competitive and without teaser rates which quickly disappear. Reviewed on: 11th April 2021
