I love that Starling bank doesn't charge fees for having a current account with them. I love the feature of Spaces in the app so it's easy to set money aside for something in particular. The only criticism I have is that they used to pay monthly interest on the money you keep in the account but that has stopped. That was one reason why I opened an account with Starling in the first place. Reviewed on: 25th March 2026

Starling Bank - Bank of The Year!

Very good terms, service and options within the account itself.Cost of running account very little. Reliable and professional service, can’t ask for more. The option of spaces gives great opportunity to safe money, manage the funds, manage the bills well. Really good interface.

I’ve been using Starling Bank for a while now, and overall, I’ve had a really positive experience. The app is intuitive and easy to navigate, making everyday banking straightforward and stress-free. I especially appreciate the instant spending notifications and the ability to categorise expenses, which helps me stay on top of my finances. Customer service has also been reliable whenever I’ve needed support, with quick responses and helpful advice. Features like fee-free spending abroad and budgeting tools add real value compared to traditional banks. If I had to point out a downside, it would be that some more advanced services (like certain types of loans or in-branch support) aren’t available, but that’s expected from a fully digital bank.
