Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Non-judgmental, friendly but businesslike.

I'm relieved that, although I still have debts, they are being managed in a sustainable and stress-free way. I didn't want to be or anticipate being in debt when I retired but at least there is now some light at the end of the tunnel. Supportive and informative advice. Exceptional service.

I went to StepChange when I was right at the point of disaster after a change in circumstances. The person I spoke to talked through my options and recommended debt management, and said I was entitled to Breathing Space which was a godsend. I am now almost 3 years into my plan and it has changed my life so much. I can afford to live again without the constant fear which was making me quite ill. I cannot thank them enough for their help. Step Change gives a way out of debt misery.

Step Change is a company that took all the pressure out of financial mess I had accumulated in a acrimonious divorce, without step change these creditors would have continued to threaten and bullied me into my downward debt spiral. Their help and guidance replaced dread with positivity that I was not the only one and things will get better, although still in debt, I do not feel helpless, well done StepChange. From completing the required forms to discussing my whole situation, Stepchange changed my whole outlook from a situation I thought I could not get out of.
