Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Dealing with unexpected life changes.,

My husband had walked out and left me with a large mortgage and bills to pay by myself. I had a well paid job but had credit cards, a loan and did not expect to find myself in this position. I heard of step change and they were extremely understanding and helped me to weather the financial storm I found myself in. I have kept up my payments and when I did ever have to phone them always found them sympathetic and caring. Just the sort of attitude you need when you are personally going through hell. Stepchange have really helped me when I was in a financial hole and didn't know where to turn. They've been so komd and helpful and taken away the worry I had over repayments and now I pay what I can afford without harassment from debt recovery companies. I'm thankful they are there for me. Stepchange Heros

I cant say enough postive things about Stepchange. I was so nervous when I rang because I was in a mess and I had never defaulted on anything before. I also felt ashamed that things had become so bad. They really put me at ease and were very understanding and dicussed it with me without judgement. They helped me find the best option for me. In my eyes they are heros!. I am nearly at the end of my DMP and they have supported me every step of the way.
