I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

As soon as i contacted step change they walked me through my finances and created an affordable repayment plan for all my debts and contacted each creditor to inform them of my repayment plan. They also review your financial situation annually to highlight any significant changes to your financial situation. I cannot recommend them enough if you feel overwhelmed by your debts please do not hesitate to contact them, you will be glad you did. Reviewed on: 14th August 2022

I am so grateful for the help and support I received from Step Change. At a hugely difficult and stressful time, Step Change employees were helpful and supportive without being judgemental. They patiently listened and helped me to work out a solution to my financial problems that had previously been causing me worry and stress. The people I spoke to were so patient and guided me through the debt management plan process. The online service is very useful too, with advice and information.
