Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

StepChange are really the best.

I have been with StepChange Debt Management for a few years now - since I lost my job during the Corona Virus. My management was guided by specialist helpers, who were special to me - wonderful people, those who guided me throughout the process. I am indebted to those who helped me on the way. Excellent company

I was embarrassed to be phoning step change but due to change in circumstances, I had no choice. A grateful Step Change believer.

We were struggling with serious debt problems and I was always a believer that paying your debt was your responsibility so I struggled on paying every month but never seeing it reducing it was soul destroying. I cannot remember who told me that they had been in a similar position and contacted Step Change who had helped them enormously. I contacted Step Change and they showed me that using one of their services could help us. It was best thing we could have done as we still have debts to pay we can at last see light at the end of what was a very dark tunnel I would urge anyone struggling with debt to speak to Step Change you won’t regret it . I came to step change when burying my head was no more, the advisors i spoke to, were always empathetic of what I was going through. when I was on my journey to debt free, step change checked in, asked for regular budgets and if I hit a sticky patch financially, one email or a chat was all it would take, I wouldn't think twice to recommend them to anyone who is struggling financially. Stepchange Took the stress

Stepchange took all of the stress of dealing with creditors, stopped all of the threatening letters and awkward phone calls,making us feel more confident to deal with the debts in a way that we could afford. Reviewed on: 25th May 2025

Job change due to COVID - drop in pay - needed help!

I moved jobs due to COVID and the drop in pay meant I struggled to keep on top of my payments. As a single parent, working full-time I realised I needed help, and was so grateful to have found StepChange. The team were so understanding, non-judgemental and offered excellent support and guidance. I felt heard and safe for the first time in a long time. Over the last 5 years, I've sped the payments along... simple to try and clear it more quickly. Whenever I managed to sell something on Facebook Marketplace, or eBay or the occasional car boot sale - every penny was just transferred via bank transfer to StepChange and it came off the bills. I use their Online DMP website to track how much I have left to pay. With. about 4 months left before I'm debt free, i can't recommend them enough to anyone in a similar situation.
