Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

From £40k debts to zero

StepChange helped me go from debts in excess of £40k to a present with zero debts. They were supportive throughout the journey, answering any questions I had. Step Change changed everything for my future

I was in a terrible way when I first spoke to step change. My wife and I had just separated, I had an incredible amount of debt and I didn’t know where to turn. From anxiety to Calmness

My world felt like it was caving in when my debts were piling up and I didn’t want to default on any of them. It got to a point that after paying my rent and bills all of my money was used to cover debt and I had to do little borrowing from friends. Breathe again

After my marriage ended my biggest worry was the £8.500 dept I was left to pay and sort out with only my basic pension to live on. So after seeing an advert I contacted deptfree direct. They were extremely helpful and made no judgement. I was offered a payment plan within my budget. The phone calls an letters from creditors stopped immediately. I could breathe again. Engaging with step change is the best decision I mad...

Engaging with step change is the best decision I made to finally address my debts. They were clear with all choices available and the impact this would have on myself so I could choose the best option. They then fully liaised with the companies to set this up and agree it, I just pay them one sum each month and they sort the rest.
